Job Summary To manage the overall supply chain and commercial activities with a solid focus on cost optimization, vendor evaluation, procurement efficiency and expenditure control.

The individual will be responsible for analyzing the company's spending on consumables, identifying cost-saving opportunities, evaluating vendors on commercial and technical parameters, negotiating competitive rates and ensuring procurement decisions deliver the best value to the organization.

Role & responsibilities

A. Commercial Management & Cost Optimisation

- Analyse overall expenditure on consumables, raw materials, stores and other indirect procurement categories.
- Monitor monthly and annual spending patterns and identify areas of unnecessary expenditure.
- Develop cost-saving strategies through price benchmarking, negotiation and vendor consolidation.
- Conduct cost-benefit analysis before finalising major procurement decisions.
- Track price fluctuations and understand their impact on overall manufacturing costs.
- Establish commercial controls to ensure procurement within approved budgets.
- Identify opportunities for reducing procurement costs without compromising quality.

B. Vendor Evaluation & Development

- Identify, evaluate and develop vendors based on price, quality, delivery, service and reliability.
- Conduct comparative analysis of vendor quotations and prepare commercial evaluation statements.
- Regularly benchmark existing vendor rates against market prices.
- Develop a structured vendor rating and performance evaluation system.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, credit periods and other commercial conditions.
- Identify alternate vendors to reduce dependency on existing suppliers.




- Conduct periodic vendor performance reviews and recommend corrective actions.

C. Consumables & Inventory Cost Control

- Monitor consumption of consumables such as refractories, sand, chemicals, ferroalloys, grinding wheels, cutting tools, welding consumables, lubricants and other foundry-related materials.
- Analyse consumption against production volumes and establish consumption norms.
- Identify abnormal consumption, wastage and potential leakages.
- Compare consumption trends across departments, production lines or plants.
- Work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality and Stores teams to optimise material utilisation.
- Ensure appropriate inventory levels while minimising excess and non-moving stock.
- Develop MIS reports for consumption, procurement costs and inventory ageing.

D. Supply Chain & Procurement Management

- Ensure timely procurement of materials as per production and operational requirements.
- Develop procurement plans in coordination with respective departments.
- Monitor purchase orders, delivery schedules and supplier commitments.
- Improve procurement processes and ensure adherence to approved procurement policies.
- Coordinate with Stores for stock reconciliation, reorder levels and material availability.
- Ensure transparency and compliance in the entire procurement cycle.

E. MIS & Commercial Reporting

- Prepare monthly reports on procurement expenditure and category-wise spending.
- Develop vendor-wise and material-wise price comparison reports.
- Track cost savings achieved through negotiations and alternate sourcing.
- Prepare consumption variance reports against established norms.
- Monitor budget versus actual procurement expenditure.
- Present periodic commercial performance reports to management.
