Job Summary

The GML team (Global Merchant Lending) is part of SMB Financial Services group within PayPal. The team owns a variety of Lending Products like PayPal Working Capital, PayPal Business Loan etc., operating in markets across the world. GML products give SMBs the access to the capital they need, but faster and easier than traditional loans. The impact we have on our customers' businesses is what drives us to innovate. You will be responsible for developing efficient, elegant, clean, reusable code with no unnecessary complication or abstraction. Mentor other engineers and developers by providing technical and business-related guidance and resources; should exhibit ownership and deliver quality solutions on schedule. Will be responsible to create / review well-articulated, detailed design documents.

Essential Responsibilities

- Delivers complete solutions spanning all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) (design, implementation, testing, delivery and operations), based on definitions from more senior roles.
- Advises immediate management on project-level issues




- Guides junior engineers
- Operates with little day-to-day supervision, making technical decisions based on knowledge of internal conventions and industry best practices
- Applies knowledge of technical best practices in making decisions

Minimum Qualifications

- 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Expected Qualifications

5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

- Candidate with expertise in React, Next.js, and Express to build and optimize contemporary web applications.
- Awareness of testing frameworks like Cypress, Playwright, JEST is mandatory.
- Experience in performance aspects like caching, code splitting, lazy loading, pagination, etc. Security aspects like authentication, CORS, xss.
- Understanding of Java, Spring, REST API and Messaging Architectures like ActiveMQ/Kafka is a plus.
- Experience in online payments/loan management system and related domains is a plus
