Software Engineer Intern (Backend / Full-Stack)

About the Role

We’re looking for curious, technically strong Software Engineering Interns who enjoy building things, solving problems, and understanding how real-world systems work.

At ParkTek, you won’t be limited to tutorial projects or isolated assignments. You’ll contribute to production systems used in residential communities and commercial parking environments.

You’ll work alongside the engineering team on backend services, web applications, databases, cloud infrastructure, and integrations between software and physical devices.

What You’ll Work On

- Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs and services.
- Build and improve product features across our web dashboards and internal tools.
- Work with PostgreSQL databases, data models, and queries.
- Debug production issues, optimize performance, and improve system reliability.
- Write clean, maintainable, tested, and well-documented code.
- Collaborate on integrations involving RFID, ANPR cameras, IoT controllers, and cloud services.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and product development.

Technical Requirements

Must Have





- Strong understanding of programming fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript or Python.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and backend development concepts.
- Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases.
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Ability to debug problems independently and learn unfamiliar technologies.

Good to Have

- Experience with Node.js, Express.js, or Next.js.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, or database optimization.
- Familiarity with React or Flutter.
- Exposure to Docker, Linux, AWS, or deployment workflows.
- Interest in IoT, computer vision, edge computing, or distributed systems.
- Personal projects, GitHub contributions, or applications you’ve built independently.

You don’t need to know our entire technology stack. Strong fundamentals and the ability to learn matter more.

- Someone who understands why their code works, not just how to write it.
- Comfortable taking ownership of tasks and asking thoughtful questions.
- Curious about system design, architecture, and real-world engineering challenges.
- Willing to test, debug, document, and improve their own work.
- Interested in working in a fast-moving, early-stage startup.
