Job Opening: Senior Merchandiser – Purchase Department

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Merchandiser to join our Purchase Department. The candidate should have experience in procurement, vendor management, market research and purchase coordination, preferably in the confectionery, FMCG, food manufacturing or export industry.

The candidate will be responsible for sourcing raw materials, packaging materials and other production-related requirements at competitive prices while ensuring timely procurement and uninterrupted production.

Key Responsibilities

- Identify, source and develop reliable vendors and suppliers for raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials and other production requirements.
- Conduct regular market research to analyse raw material prices, market trends and supplier availability.
- Obtain and compare quotations from multiple vendors to negotiate competitive pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules.
- Handle procurement of confectionery ingredients such as sugar, cocoa, milk powder, flavours, colours, additives, preservatives and other food ingredients.
- Coordinate with the Production, Quality Control, R&D; and Supply Chain teams to understand material requirements and ensure timely procurement.
- Follow up with suppliers for purchase orders, dispatch schedules, pending deliveries and material shortages.




- Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors while continuously exploring new suppliers and alternative sourcing opportunities.
- Ensure purchased materials meet the required quality specifications and applicable food safety standards.
- Monitor purchase orders, stock availability, lead times and inventory requirements to avoid production delays.
- Maintain purchase records, vendor databases, price comparison sheets and procurement reports.
- Negotiate with suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising on quality.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding documentation, invoices, payment terms and other commercial requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Graduate in Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
- 4–7 years of experience in purchase, procurement or merchandising.
- Experience in the FMCG, confectionery, food processing or manufacturing industry will be preferred.
- Strong knowledge of raw material sourcing, vendor development and price negotiations.
- Good understanding of packaging materials and food ingredients.
- Robust market research, analytical and vendor coordination skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, purchase documentation and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and follow-up skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple procurement activities.
