Experience: 8+ Years
Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Architect with robust expertise in Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and CI/CD automation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing scalable, secure, resilient, and automated cloud infrastructure and data platform solutions. The candidate should have a robust architectural mindset and the ability to translate business and programme requirements into practical technical designs that engineering teams can implement. This role requires hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, deployment automation, security, monitoring, and disaster recovery.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable making architectural decisions, evaluating technology trade-offs, establishing DevOps best practices, and collaborating with engineering, data, security, and platform teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cloud Architecture – Microsoft Azure
* Design and implement scalable, highly available, and secure cloud architectures on Microsoft Azure.
- Architect Azure infrastructure components, including Virtual Networks, Subnets, NSGs, Azure Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Azure Storage, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Define secure networking, identity and access management, private connectivity, and cloud resource governance.
- Establish cloud infrastructure standards, operational best practices, and reusable architectural patterns.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
2. DevOps, CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code
* Design and implement end-to-end CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure, applications, and data platform deployments.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, including reusable modules and environment-specific configurations.
- Implement automated provisioning, configuration management, deployment validation, and infrastructure testing.
- Integrate source control, code reviews, automated testing, security scanning, and approval workflows into CI/CD pipelines.
- Establish Git-based workflows, branching strategies, versioning standards, and release management practices.
- Implement DevSecOps practices, including secrets management, vulnerability scanning, policy enforcement, and secure deployment processes.
3. Kubernetes & Container Orchestration
* Architect, deploy, and manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes, with a strong focus on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Design Kubernetes cluster architecture, namespace isolation, workload scheduling, resource allocation, and scaling strategies.
- Implement Helm-based deployments, container image management, and automated application releases.
- Configure Kubernetes networking, ingress, service discovery, persistent storage, and secure workload communication.
- Implement cluster monitoring, logging, health checks,
autoscaling, and self-healing mechanisms.
- Design strategies for Kubernetes upgrades, high availability, backup, disaster recovery, and workload restoration.
4. Snowflake Platform & DevOps Integration
* Design and implement automated deployment and operational workflows for Snowflake environments.
- Establish CI/CD processes for Snowflake database objects, including schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, and related configurations.
- Automate Snowflake configuration and deployment using Git-based workflows, Terraform, and suitable database deployment tools.
- Implement secure access management through role-based access control (RBAC), least-privilege permissions, and controlled credential management.
- Support secure connectivity between Snowflake and Azure-based applications, data pipelines, and cloud storage.
- Establish environment promotion strategies across development, testing, staging, and production.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to improve deployment reliability, platform governance, monitoring, and operational efficiency.
5. Security, Governance & Reliability
* Implement a security-first architecture using zero-trust principles, least-privilege access, and identity-based controls.
- Define security standards for cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes workloads, CI/CD pipelines, and Snowflake environments.
- Implement centralized logging, monitoring, alerting, and audit trails.
- Establish backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response procedures.
- Identify architectural risks, assess failure scenarios, and implement appropriate resilience measures.
- Ensure infrastructure and deployment practices align with organizational security and compliance requirements.
6. Architecture Leadership & Stakeholder Management
* Translate business requirements and programme objectives into detailed architectural designs and implementation plans.
- Document architecture decisions, technical specifications, deployment patterns, security controls, and operational procedures.
- Evaluate architectural alternatives and explain trade-offs involving cost, complexity, scalability, security, and maintainability.
- Guide DevOps engineers, cloud engineers, Kubernetes specialists, and data engineering teams.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to communicate architectural decisions and resolve technical challenges.
- Establish engineering standards and drive continuous improvements across cloud and data platform operations.
Required Technical Skills
