About the company:

An India product development centre of a US group, building secure, highly available, cloud-based enterprise software used by large research facilities, university medical centres, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies in the US and worldwide.

About the role:

As R&D; Manager, you will lead the product engineering teams at the Hyderabad development centre. You will own delivery across multiple product teams, hire and grow engineers and tech leads, and act as the bridge between engineering, product management, the US team, sales and customer support. This is a hands-on leadership role - you will guide architecture and design, review code and solve hard technical problems alongside your teams.

What you will do:

- Set the technical direction for the India development centre and drive delivery across multiple product teams
- Hire, mentor and lead tech leads and engineers, and build a robust engineering culture
- Guide architecture and design of cloud-based, highly available distributed applications
- Ensure high-quality, timely releases of new products and of the existing product line
- Work closely with product management and US stakeholders on requirements, planning and priorities




- Improve engineering practices: code quality, testing, security, CI/CD and DevOps

What you need:

- 8 - 12 years of hands-on software development, with at least 4 years managing engineering teams
- Strong experience with Java, Spring (Boot, MVC, Data, Security, Cloud) and Hibernate
- Experience with front-end technologies such as Angular, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS
- Experience designing and building cloud-based distributed applications, with strong object-oriented design
- Working knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL or Oracle
- A track record of hiring and growing engineers and leading delivery in a product company
- Excellent communication, with experience working with US-based teams

Good to have:

- Healthcare, life sciences, pharma or research domain experience
- Experience with SonarQube, JUnit, DevOps tooling and web application security
