About this role

As a Platform Lead within the Applied AI & Decision Intelligence team, you will lead a small engineering squad responsible for delivering enterprise data products, AI-enabled applications and governed automation capabilities.

Operating as a hands-on player-coach, you will partner with business stakeholders, domain specialists, architects and engineering teams to identify opportunities, shape product roadmaps and translate business problems into practical technical solutions.

This role combines product thinking, technical leadership and engineering delivery. You will guide engineers through solution design and implementation, contribute to technical decisions, establish engineering standards and take shared ownership of the reliability, adoption and business impact of products delivered by the squad.

With a strong focus on connecting enterprise data to intelligent decision-making and operational outcomes, you will help build reusable engineering capabilities while ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable and fit for production.

What you'll do

Product Discovery & Problem Framing: Work closely with business users and domain specialists to understand operational workflows, decision-making challenges and business opportunities. Challenge assumptions, validate proposed solutions and identify opportunities where data and AI can deliver meaningful business value.

Product Roadmap & Prioritisation: Own and maintain an outcome-driven product roadmap and actionable engineering backlog. Prioritise initiatives based on business value, technical feasibility, user adoption and operational needs while balancing new capabilities, technical debt and platform reliability.

Technical Leadership & Solution Design: Partner with engineers, architects and security teams to co-design practical solutions across data models, APIs, integrations, AI capabilities and application architectures. Provide technical direction and promote simple, scalable and maintainable engineering approaches.

Applied AI & Decision Intelligence: Guide the development of AI-enabled applications, grounded analytics, conversational interfaces, retrieval-based solutions and governed automation. Ensure appropriate boundaries between deterministic business logic and AI-generated decisions, with suitable validation and human approval mechanisms.

Engineering Delivery & Production Ownership: Lead end-to-end delivery of data and AI products, establishing clear acceptance criteria for functionality, data correctness, testing, security, observability and release readiness. Ensure products are reliable, supportable and fit for enterprise production environments.

Squad Leadership & Engineering Mentorship: Lead and develop a growing engineering squad of engineers and analysts. Coach team members, provide technical feedback, remove delivery blockers and build a culture of accountability, collaboration and independent problem-solving.

Reusable Engineering Foundations:



Identify opportunities to develop reusable services and engineering capabilities across products, including data ingestion, business context, identity, auditability, integration and AI evaluation, while accommodating individual product requirements.

Platform Reliability & Operational Excellence: Establish practices for monitoring data freshness, application health, service performance, failure recovery and cloud/model costs. Drive continuous improvement through incident analysis, defect resolution and operational feedback.

Stakeholder & Value Management: Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, Platform Managers, Architects and engineering leaders. Communicate technical trade-offs, manage expectations and connect engineering delivery to measurable outcomes such as improved decisions, reduced operational effort, increased adoption and reduced business risk.

Cross-Shore Collaboration: Foster an integrated onshore and offshore engineering culture through clear communication, shared ownership, effective knowledge transfer and collaboration across distributed Agile squads.

What you'll bring

Product Engineering & Technical Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and delivering enterprise-scale software, data products or digital platforms, with the ability to combine hands-on technical contribution with engineering leadership.

Product Discovery & Strategic Prioritisation: Strong ability to understand business problems, challenge assumptions, translate requirements into product capabilities and prioritise delivery based on measurable business outcomes.

Software & Data Engineering Expertise: Strong engineering foundation with proficiency in Python, SQL, data modelling, API development, microservices and modern software engineering practices. Ability to review code, assess technical designs and influence architectural decisions.

Applied AI & Decision Intelligence: Practical understanding of Generative AI, LLM applications, retrieval-based solutions, conversational analytics, structured outputs, tool integration and AI evaluation. Ability to identify appropriate AI use cases and establish controls for safe and reliable AI adoption.

Cloud & Application Engineering: Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably GCP, including BigQuery, Dataform, FastAPI, Cloud Run, Docker and cloud-native application architectures. Familiarity with React and TypeScript is advantageous.

Enterprise Data & Systems Integration: Experience integrating enterprise data products and business applications through APIs and modern data platforms, with exposure to technologies such as ServiceNow, Jira and enterprise data ecosystems.

Engineering Quality & Governance: Strong understanding of automated testing, CI/CD, IAM, secrets management, access controls, auditability, telemetry, observability and controlled production releases.

Production & Operational Ownership: Demonstrated experience managing products beyond deployment, including production support, incident resolution, root-cause analysis, reliability improvements, performance monitoring and cost optimisation.

People Leadership & Mentorship: Proven ability to lead,



coach and develop engineering teams, strengthen technical ownership and create an environment that encourages independent thinking, collaboration and continuous learning.

Stakeholder & Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage business stakeholders and senior technical leaders, explain architectural trade-offs and align engineering outcomes with business priorities.

Distributed Agile Delivery: Experience working in Agile, product-oriented or DevOps squad environments, collaborating across distributed teams and establishing clear ownership, delivery accountability and effective ways of working.

Career Experience: Approximately 8+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering or enterprise technology delivery, with demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, influencing technical decisions and delivering production-grade enterprise products.
