Performance Marketing Manager B2B Manufacturing The Role
We are looking for a Performance Marketing Manager who can build, manage and continuously improve digital campaigns for a specialised B2B manufacturing audience.
Manufacturing is not a high-volume, impulse-driven category. Search volumes can be limited, buying cycles are longer, and purchase decisions involve multiple stakeholders—from plant and operations leaders to supply-chain heads, CIOs and business owners. Success therefore requires more than platform knowledge. It requires the ability to understand complex operational problems, identify narrow audience segments and fine-tune campaigns using both performance data and lead-quality feedback.
The person will own paid campaign strategy, execution, experimentation, measurement and optimisation across Gemba’s consulting, technology and AI offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute performance campaigns across Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Meta and relevant industry platforms.
- Develop separate campaign strategies by industry, geography, buyer role, operational problem and stage of intent.
- Research manufacturing sectors and understand how terminology, priorities and buying behaviour vary across industries.
- Translate complex offerings such as operational transformation, WMS, TMS, MTS and Enterprise AI into explicit, intent-led campaigns.
- Build and continuously refine keyword clusters, negative-keyword lists, audiences, exclusions and retargeting pools.
- Identify high-intent searches even when keyword volumes are low or fragmented.
- Test campaign variables systematically, including positioning, pain points, value propositions, formats, audiences, keywords, offers and landing pages.
- Optimise for qualified leads, sales conversations and pipeline contribution—not simply clicks, impressions or low-cost form fills.
- Review lead quality with the sales and consulting teams and use their feedback to improve targeting and messaging.
- Monitor search terms and campaign responses to identify irrelevant audiences, emerging demand patterns and new campaign opportunities.
- Work with content, design and web teams to improve ad creatives, downloadable assets and landing-page conversion.
- Build campaign-specific landing pages and recommend CRO improvements based on user behaviour.
- Set up and maintain accurate tracking through GA4, Google Tag Manager, platform pixels and CRM integrations.
- Create clear weekly and monthly reports covering spend, lead quality, conversion, pipeline contribution, learnings and recommended actions.
- Manage budgets, forecasts and channel allocation across regions and offerings.
- Support account-based and retargeting campaigns for priority industries, companies and decision-makers.
- Stay current with platform changes while judging whether new features are genuinely relevant to Gemba’s market.
Critical Niche-Market Skills The right candidate should be able to:
- Enter an unfamiliar manufacturing segment and quickly understand its business model, terminology, operational challenges and decision-makers.
- Distinguish between broad interest and genuine commercial intent.
- Build useful insights from limited data instead of depending only on large campaign volumes.
- Recognise that the same operational problem may be described differently by different industries and buyer groups.
- Balance demand capture with market education in categories where buyers may not search for the solution by its formal name.
- Fine-tune campaigns through disciplined, hypothesis-led experimentation rather than making frequent arbitrary changes.
- Connect advertising data with sales outcomes and adjust campaigns based on which leads become relevant conversations and opportunities.
- Communicate credibly to senior manufacturing audiences without relying on generic technology or transformation language.
Required Experience and Skills
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in performance marketing, preferably within B2B, manufacturing, industrial technology, enterprise SaaS, logistics, supply chain, ERP or consulting.
- Demonstrated experience generating qualified B2B leads through Google and LinkedIn.
- Strong command of campaign structure, keyword strategy, audience segmentation, bidding, remarketing and conversion optimisation.
- Experience working with long sales cycles and multiple B2B decision-makers.
- Strong analytical ability and confidence interpreting performance beyond surface-level platform metrics.
- Working knowledge of GA4, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console and CRM-based attribution.
- Ability to write or evaluate clear ad copy, campaign messaging and landing-page briefs.
- Strong research skills and willingness to learn complex manufacturing and operational subjects.
- Ability to manage multiple campaigns, markets and stakeholder requirements independently.
Good to Have
- Previous experience marketing to plant heads, operations leaders, supply-chain leaders, CIOs, business owners or manufacturing CXOs.
- Experience with HubSpot, Salesforce or another lead-management platform.
- Exposure to account-based marketing and multi-country campaigns.
- Familiarity with WMS, TMS, CMMS/MTS, industrial automation, operational excellence or manufacturing AI.
- Experience using calculators, reports, assessments, case studies or other high-value assets for B2B lead generation.
How Success Will Be Measured
- Number and quality of marketing-generated leads.
- Lead-to-meeting, lead-to-opportunity and pipeline-contribution rates.
- Reduction in irrelevant or poorly matched leads.
- Cost per qualified lead rather than cost per form submission alone.
- Improvement in landing-page and campaign conversion rates.
- Accuracy of tracking, reporting and attribution.
- Quality and pace of campaign experiments and resulting insights.
- Ability to build repeatable demand-generation systems across industries and regions.
What Makes This Role Different This is not a role for someone who only knows how to operate advertising platforms. We need a marketer who can investigate a specialised market, understand how industrial buyers think and progressively make campaigns more precise.
The strongest candidate will combine analytical discipline, commercial judgement and intellectual curiosity—and will be comfortable learning from campaign data, sales feedback and the realities of the manufacturing floor.
