Qualification & Experience

- Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years, or Master's degree with at least 4 years, of relevant experience in video editing, video production or digital media (degree in any discipline).
- Supporting portfolio or showreel of completed work (links to published social media content).

Role & Responsibilities The incumbent will be a creative, dependable Video Editor to help bring BITS Pilani's campus stories, people and achievements to life. The role will primarily focus on Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and other social media videos, with internal feature videos and longer edits developed as required. The key responsibilities are as under:

- Edit engaging short-form videos covering student life, research, faculty, alumni, events and institutional initiatives.
- Turn raw footage, interviews and supplied material into clear stories with effective openings, thoughtful pacing and appropriate music.
- Create internal feature videos, interview edits, event highlights and other communication videos based on agreed briefs.
- Add captions, titles, basic motion graphics, audio clean-up and color correction to deliver polished videos.
- Adapt videos for different platforms, aspect ratios and audiences while maintaining BITS Pilani's visual identity and tone.
- Work with the communications team on concepts, footage requirements and edit plans; suggest practical ways to improve the final output.
- Use AI-assisted tools where useful for tasks such as transcription, captioning, footage search,



audio enhancement and rough-cut support. Review outputs for accuracy and follow institutional guidance on confidential material.
- Manage feedback, revisions, project files and footage archives in an organized manner.
- Stay aware of relevant video formats and trends, applying them when they suit the story and audience.

Competencies & Skill Set

- Robust editing fundamentals, an understanding of social media storytelling and practical experience using AI tools to improve their workflow
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects for video editing, basic motion graphics and post-production.
- Familiarity with Wondershare Filmora for quick edits and social media content.
- Working knowledge of mobile editing apps such as VN Video Editor or InShot for creating Reels and short-form videos.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted video tools such as Adobe's AI features, Descript or Runway for tasks like captioning, audio enhancement, rough cuts and supporting visuals.
- Ability to work independently from a brief, communicate timelines and incorporate constructive feedback.
- Attention to detail, particularly with names, designations, captions and institutional information.
- Good English comprehension and the ability to work with spoken interviews and written briefs.
- Desirable: Basic camera, lighting and sound knowledge to support occasional simple shoots; experience repurposing longer interviews or feature videos into short-form content.
