Job Title: OBG Registrar

Department: Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Location: Ovum Hospitals, Hennur

Job Purpose To provide comprehensive clinical care to obstetric and gynaecological patients, manage routine and emergency cases, assist consultants in procedures and surgeries, and ensure quality patient care in accordance with hospital protocols.

Key Responsibilities

A. Clinical Responsibilities

- Examine and assess antenatal, postnatal and gynaecological patients.
- Conduct routine antenatal check-ups and monitor maternal and fetal well-being.
- Manage labour room patients and monitor progress of labour.
- Conduct normal vaginal deliveries independently, as per competency and hospital privileges.
- Assist consultants during LSCS and other obstetric and gynaecological surgeries.
- Identify and manage obstetric emergencies, including PPH, eclampsia and obstructed labour, with timely escalation.
- Provide post-operative and postnatal care.
- Attend emergency calls and inpatient referrals.

B. Labour Room & Emergency Management

- Monitor patients in the labour room and ensure timely clinical intervention.
- Maintain proper labour records and partographs.
- Coordinate emergency management with anaesthesia, paediatrics and other departments.
- Ensure timely escalation of high-risk pregnancies to senior consultants.




- Participate in emergency drills and ensure adherence to clinical protocols.

C. Documentation & Patient Care

- Maintain accurate patient records, case sheets and treatment charts.
- Ensure proper documentation of delivery notes, operative notes and discharge summaries.
- Counsel patients and relatives regarding treatment plans and procedures.
- Ensure informed consent before procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow hospital policies.

D. Coordination & Administration

- Coordinate with consultants, nursing staff, paediatricians and other departments.
- Participate in ward rounds and clinical handovers.
- Ensure compliance with infection control and patient safety protocols.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.

Qualification & Experience

- MBBS with MD/MS/DNB in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
- Valid registration with the State Medical Council.
- Previous experience in OBG clinical practice preferred.
- Valuable clinical judgement and emergency management skills.
