Manager - Accounts and Finance

About Aerem Group. Aerem is a Mumbai-based solar platform with three businesses: Sunstore (solar equipment distribution and imports), Aerem Solutions (EPC and direct-to-consumer rooftop installation) and NetZero Finance (an RBI-registered NBFC financing solar). Finance is being built out at group level, with ERPNext going live as the single system of record from April 2027.
Role purpose. Own the books, controls and finance team of Aerem Solutions, parent entity of the group which houses the group's EPC and installation business as well as Tech, monitoring platform and the corporate functions. You will deliver an accurate, on-time close, a clean statutory audit, and project-level numbers the business uses to run itself.
Key responsibilities
1. Accounting, close and reporting
- Own the monthly close to the group calendar, with reconciliations, schedules and sign-offs.
- Prepare standalone financial statements [currently Indian GAAP but moving to Ind AS next year] and inputs for group consolidation.
- Apply project accounting: revenue recognition on EPC and installation contracts, contract WIP, unbilled revenue and retention, customer advances, warranty provisions.
- Account for intercompany balances with Sunstore (equipment) and NetZero Finance (customer financing); reconcile monthly.
- Lead the statutory audit and tax audit; own the closure of audit and internal audit observations.
1. Team leadership
- Lead and develop the entity accounting team: allocate work, set standards, review output, and coach.
- Build role clarity, SOPs and a review culture so the close does not depend on one person.
- Identify skill gaps and hiring needs as the business scales.
1. Business partnering
- Act as finance partner to the EPC and D2C business heads: project margins, cost overruns, collections and pricing.
- Track project-level profitability and cash conversion; flag issues early.
- Support commercial decisions with numbers on contract terms, payment milestones and vendor terms.
1. Working capital, compliance and controls
- Manage receivables, payables and cash flow forecasting for the entity.
- Coordinate GST, TDS and other statutory compliance with Group Tax.
- Run day-to-day controls: approvals, vendor and customer master hygiene, fixed asset and capitalisation discipline.
1. Data and systems
- Lead Aerem Solutions' finance migration to ERPNext: data cleansing, opening balances, testing and go-live.
- Keep master data and project codes structured so project, customer and region reporting comes straight from the system.
Qualifications and experience
- Chartered Accountant (ICAI), mandatory.
- 57 years post-qualification, including at least 2 years leading an accounting team.
- Experience owning the close and statutory audit for an entity end to end.
- Preferred: EPC, construction, infrastructure, renewables or project-based businesses; consumer installation or service businesses with high transaction volumes.
- ERP migration or implementation experience is a strong plus.
Skills
- Team management: has hired, reviewed and developed accountants; sets standards and holds the team to them.
- Data management: advanced Excel and Power Query; comfortable with large transaction datasets, reconciliations and ERP data extraction.
- Business partnering: works directly with project and sales teams; explains numbers without jargon.
- Robust knowledge of accounting standards, Companies Act and sufficient working knowledge of GST and direct taxation.
What success looks like in the first 12 months
- Monthly close delivered on the group calendar with complete reconciliations.
- FY 2026-27 statutory audit closed on time with no significant findings.
- ERPNext live for Aerem Solutions with clean opening balances.
- Project-level P&L; reported monthly to business heads.
- Team working to documented SOPs with clear ownership.
