- Perform textile fibre composition and fibre content testing as per applicable test methods, standards, SOPs and instructions from the Lab Manager.
- Prepare the required chemicals, reagents and solutions for testing.
- Identify and analyse textile fibres using applicable chemical and physical test methods.
- Record raw test data, observations and sample details in relevant worksheets, registers and laboratory records.
- Verify equipment calibration status and condition before use; report any deviations to the Lab Manager.
- Ensure accurate, reliable and timely completion of testing and submission of results for technical review.
- Maintain sample identification, traceability, storage and disposal of remnant samples.
- Monitor and record laboratory environmental conditions, wherever applicable.
- Maintain and update technical records, quality management documents and test method records.
- Coordinate equipment calibration, verification and preventive maintenance.
- Verify calibration certificates and equipment performance after calibration.
- Monitor the quality and suitability of chemicals, reagents and laboratory consumables.
- Maintain laboratory housekeeping, safety practices and good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Assist in training and monitoring recent laboratory staff.
- Support investigation of testing deviations, customer complaints and non-conforming work.
- Keep updated on applicable textile testing standards, test methods and technical requirements.
- Ensure timely completion of testing to avoid delays in customer reporting.
- Assist in internal and external audits and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Support cost control and efficient utilization of chemicals, consumables and laboratory resources.
- Participate in periodic technical discussions and meetings with superiors to improve testing knowledge and laboratory performance.
