Role Overview
We are seeking an Investment Reporting & Treasury Associate to support a global family office with a diversified portfolio across private markets, public markets, structured products, and multiple jurisdictions.
This role owns the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of investment reporting and acts as the primary interface with banks, asset managers, funds, and advisors in different jurisdictions. It requires someone who operates independently, thinks critically, and holds high standards without being prompted.
Key Responsibilities
1) Investment Reporting & Portfolio Tracking
Maintain consolidated reporting across all asset classes and entities.
- Private investments VC, PE, co-investments: capital calls, distributions, NAV updates
- Public markets positions, valuations, income tracking
- Structured products coupon schedules, lifecycle events, maturity tracking
- Track and update performance metrics: IRR, MOIC, DPI, and TVPI
- Maintain internal dashboards and periodic reporting packs for the principal
- Flag discrepancies, stale data, or missing updates before they become problems.
2 ) Valuation Integrity & Secondary Market Awareness Core differentiator for this role
Monitor and maintain reference valuations for private investments ensuring records are not stale or misaligned with market reality.
- Track latest funding rounds and mark-to-market reference points
- Follow secondary market activity for private assets (VC/PE secondaries)
- Understand and apply secondary pricing dynamics:
- Discounts to NAV and drivers behind them
- Liquidity-driven vs. fundamental pricing
- Market sentiment vs. reported fund marks
- Cross-check reported NAV against observable secondary transactions
- Flag misalignment between fund marks and market evidence to the principal
The expectation is not to price assets it is to ensure that internal records are never materially out of step with what the market is showing. 3 ) Bank, Fund & Asset Manager Coordination
Act as primary point of contact for all external counterparties related to the investment portfolio.
- Private banks statement receipt, FX reporting, structured product updates
- Asset managers and GPs capital account statements, quarterly reports, fee disclosures
- Ensure all reporting is received on time — follow up proactively where it is delayed, incomplete, or inconsistent
- Maintain a counterparty-level reporting tracker: what is expected, from whom, and when
4 )Treasury Monitoring (Visibility, Non-Execution) Maintain real-time visibility over liquidity and upcoming cash requirements across all entities.
- Track upcoming capital calls, commitment timelines,
and funding requirements
- Monitor large scheduled payments and flag liquidity requirements in advance
- Coordinate with Role A (Finance Ops) to ensure execution is timely and properly prepared
- Maintain a rolling 30/60/90-day cash flow visibility schedule
5 )India — Full Ownership of Reporting, Coordination & Compliance Tracking This role takes active ownership of all India-related investment reporting, advisor coordination, and compliance tracking — ensuring alignment between internal records, external advisors, and regulatory requirements.
Advisor & Stakeholder Coordination
- Primary interface with Indian CAs, legal advisors, and corporate service providers
- Drive all communication — ensure clear understanding of requirements, timely submission of information, and closure of open items
- This is not passive coordination: the role must push India processes forward proactively
Compliance & Filing Oversight
- Maintain a centralised tracker of all India-related filings and deadlines
- Investment-related filings — inbound and outbound structures
- Ongoing compliance requirements and tax deadlines
- Ensure all documentation is complete, filed on time, and consistent with internal records
At any point, this role must be able to answer: "What is pending, with whom, and by when?" Capital Flow & Repatriation Tracking
- Track and reconcile investments into India, distributions, exits, and repatriation timelines
- Coordinate with advisors and banks to ensure smooth execution of cross-border flows
- Maintain proper documentation for each transaction
Documentation & Data Integrity
- Maintain organised records: investment documentation, capital flows, filings, and acknowledgements
- Ensure consistency between internal investment tracking, bank flows, and India filings
- Reconcile discrepancies between India CA records and internal books
Bureaucracy Management & Follow-Through
- Manage India-related processes with persistent follow-up and structured communication
- Proactively identify delays, bottlenecks, and missing documentation
- Escalate clearly when processes are stalled — with context and a proposed resolution
6 )Reporting Discipline & Independent Ownership
- Ensure all reporting and tracking is accurate, complete, and delivered within required timelines
- Maintain a structured calendar for capital calls, reporting cycles, and filing deadlines
- Identify gaps proactively: missing reports, incomplete data, inconsistencies
- Escalate issues early and clearly — with sufficient context for the principal to act
This role is expected to own deadlines — not react to them. Missed timelines or untracked gaps are not acceptable.
Candidate Profile
Core Requirements
- 4+ years in investment reporting, portfolio monitoring, or a similar role
- Prior experience at a family office, fund, wealth platform, or asset manager
- Strong analytical skills — able to identify inconsistencies and question data quality
- Highly organised — able to manage multiple concurrent reporting cycles without dropping items
Secondary Market Awareness — Non-Negotiable Candidates must demonstrate working familiarity with private market dynamics and secondary pricing. This is not a bonus — it is a core requirement.
- Familiarity with VC/PE secondary markets — pricing dynamics, discount conventions, liquidity considerations
- Ability to track and interpret secondary pricing trends
- Judgment to apply secondary market evidence to internal valuation references
- This will be tested in the assessment. Candidates without demonstrable awareness will not progress.
Financial Product Knowledge
- Working knowledge of funds and capital commitments (drawdown mechanics, waterfall basics)
- Familiarity with private vs. public market instruments at a reporting level
- Understanding of structured products sufficient to track cashflows and lifecycle events
- Ability to read and interpret fund capital account statements, NAV reports, and fee disclosures
India Exposure — Strong Preference
- Experience managing or liaising on India-based investments, entities, or advisors
- Familiarity with India filing processes, documentation requirements, and the realities of the regulatory workplace
- Practical experience with cross-border capital flows involving India
Operating Style — Critical Traits
- Highly independent — does not require constant direction or hand-holding
- Deadline-driven — zero tolerance for missed reporting timelines or untracked items
- Strong follow-up discipline — especially with funds, banks, and external advisors
- Detail-oriented with high ownership mindset
- Comfortable raising issues early rather than hoping they resolve themselves
What This Role Is — and Isn't This is not a passive reporting role.
It is a portfolio control and visibility role responsible for:
- Ensuring accuracy and completeness of investment records
- Maintaining alignment with market reality — especially for private assets
- Driving timely reporting and follow-ups across all counterparties
- Owning the India coordination and compliance tracking end-to-end
Selection Process Shortlisted candidates will complete a case-based assessment. Topics will include:
- Secondary market pricing vs. NAV mismatch scenario
- Missing fund report — identification, follow-up, and escalation process
- India filing gap — delayed documentation and corrective coordination
- Capital call forecasting and liquidity visibility exercise
Candidates who pass the assessment will be invited for a structured interview with the principal. Candidates without demonstrable secondary market awareness and investment reporting experience will not be considered.
