HVAC - Liquid Cooling Expert (AI Data Centre)

Role Overview

Lead HVAC and liquid-cooling design reviews, system selection, installation oversight, testing and commissioning for AI data centres with high-density GPU workloads.

Key Responsibilities

- HVAC Design: Review cooling capacity, heat loads, airflow, thermal distribution, redundancy and efficiency for data halls and support spaces; assess chillers, cooling towers, pumps, CRAH/CRAC units, heat exchangers, piping, valves and controls.
- Review HVAC layouts, P&IDs;, equipment schedules, BOQs, specifications and shop drawings; coordinate design interfaces with consultants, EPCs, OEMs and other engineering teams.
- Liquid Cooling: Evaluate direct-to-chip cooling, CDUs, liquid-cooled racks, facility/technology cooling loops, manifolds, piping and heat exchangers; assess flow, temperature differentials, pressure drops, hydraulic balancing and heat rejection.
- Validate compatibility with GPU server specifications and rack power density; address leak detection, filtration, water quality, coolant compatibility, isolation and maintainability; assess immersion cooling where relevant.
- Site Execution: Monitor installation, delivery, piping, insulation, flushing, pressure testing and balancing against approved drawings and schedules; resolve clashes across civil, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire and IT systems.
- Testing & Commissioning: Validate cooling performance at normal/peak load and failure scenarios; verify redundancy, changeover,



controls, alarms, BMS/DCIM integration and integrated systems testing; review test reports, punch lists and handover documents.
- Efficiency & Readiness: Identify improvements in cooling, pump/fan energy and heat rejection; support PUE assessment and recommend scalable, maintainable cooling for future GPU capacity.

Required Qualifications & Experience

•Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.

- 8to 12 experience in HVAC, mission-critical cooling, data centre mechanical infrastructure or large industrial cooling projects.
- Strong understanding of chilled-water systems, precision cooling, pumps, heat exchangers, piping and HVAC controls.
- Experience with drawings/P&IDs;/BOQs, equipment selection, contractor coordination, installation, testing, commissioning and performance validation.

Preferred

- Direct liquid-cooled data centre or high-density GPU experience, including direct-to-chip, CDUs, rack manifolds and facility/technology cooling loops.
- Hyperscale/colocation exposure; familiarity with ASHRAE thermal guidelines, Uptime Tier concepts, BMS/DCIM, CFD thermal analysis and energy-efficiency assessments.

Success Measures

Cooling capacity delivered to design; successful commissioning; compliance with quality and timelines; minimal leaks/defects; effective, reliable and scalable cooling.
