Requirements

- 6-10 years of experience in machining, estimation and process planning.

- Must have a strong background in CNC machining, particularly VMC, HMC, CNC Turning and conventional machining.

- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings (2D and 3D).

- Solid knowledge of machining processes, operations and manufacturing methods.

- Experience in machining cycle-time calculation and operation-wise time estimation.

- Knowledge of cutting tools, tool holders, fixtures and machining parameters.

- Ability to calculate raw material requirements, machining costs and manufacturing costs.

- Knowledge of material grades, material specifications and market pricing.

- Experience in preparing cost estimates and commercial quotations for customer requirements.

- Knowledge of CAD software and Excel for estimation and process planning.

- Ability to identify suitable manufacturing methods based on component geometry, material and quantity.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving and coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities

A. Estimation & Costing

- Study customer drawings, specifications and technical requirements before preparing estimates.

- Calculate raw material requirements, including material grade, size, weight and cost.

- Estimate machining cycle time for individual operations such as milling, drilling, tapping, boring and turning.





- Calculate machine-hour costs, manpower costs, tooling costs and other manufacturing expenses.

- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for components and assemblies.

- Estimate outsourcing costs for special processes and external manufacturing activities.

- Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations within the required timeline.

- Identify cost-reduction opportunities without compromising quality.

- Review actual production costs against estimated costs and identify variations.

Process

Planning

- Develop operation-wise manufacturing process plans based on engineering drawings.

- Identify suitable machines, machining methods and manufacturing sequences.

- Decide the appropriate machining operations, setups and work-holding methods.

- Identify cutting tools, fixtures and special tooling requirements.

- Estimate operation-wise cycle times and total manufacturing lead time.

- Coordinate with CNC programming and production teams to validate machining feasibility.

- Identify critical dimensions, tolerances and special machining requirements.

- Prepare process sheets, routing sheets and operation-wise manufacturing documentation.

- Review process plans and suggest improvements for productivity and cost optimization.
