Electrician –Maintenance Department

We are looking a skilled and responsible Electrician for Vishwakarma University, Pune with 1 – 3 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance. We need a person readyto handle installation, troubleshooting, and repair work across the university campus. The candidate will ensure the safe and efficient functioning of electrical systems, equipment, classrooms, laboratories, offices, and other campus facilities.

Job duties and responsibilities

Electrician job contains the following duties and responsibilities:

- Carry out routine electrical maintenance, inspection, and repair work across the university campus.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical wiring, switches, sockets, lighting systems, fans, and electrical fixtures.
- Identify and rectify electrical faults in distribution boards, circuit breakers, MCBs, and related equipment.
- Attend electrical complaints and breakdowns reported by various departments.
- Maintain electrical systems in classrooms, laboratories, offices, hostels, and other university facilities, as assigned.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment, UPS systems, and backup power systems.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and follow proper safety procedures while working.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize electrical failures and equipment downtime.




- Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and electrical materials used.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team and external contractors for electrical works, whenever required.
- Perform any other electrical maintenance duties assigned by the reporting authority.
- Basic knowledge of IT infrastructure and networking.
- Support the System department in IT infrastructure related Electrical work.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

• ITI in Electrician trade or diploma completed in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent relevant technical qualification.

AND

- 1–3 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance. Candidates with experience in educational institutions, commercial buildings, or large facilities will be preferred.

Skills required

• Knowledge of electrical wiring, fault finding, electrical panels, circuit breakers, lighting systems, and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to respond promptly to electrical complaints and emergency breakdowns.
- Willingness to work in shifts or beyond regular hours when required for university activities.
- Valuable understanding of electrical safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently as well as coordinate with the maintenance team.
- Problem-solving ability, teamwork, and a responsible work attitude.
- Effective communication skills.
