Role & responsibilities

1. Provide technical leadership for the design and engineering of complex mechanical systems and higher-level assemblies
2. Perform and validate advanced calculations, including the design of critical functional areas
3. Prepare, review and optimize comprehensive displacement-time diagrams for complete machines and linked systems
4. Assess costs, economic viability and manufacturing technology at system level
5. Take responsibility for functional descriptions and the technical quality of documentation inputs
6. Define strategic spare- and wear-parts concepts
7. Lead mechatronic coordination with electrical engineering and other specialist functions
8. Assume technical responsibility for higher-level assemblies, including standards, modules and reuse concepts
9. Support the creation of configurations and associated rules within the modular product system
10. Act as technical contact for critical cases in sales, assembly, manufacturing, after-sales and complaint handling

Conduct and lead customer visits for complex technical clarifications
12. Make approval decisions, develop suppliers and technically assess new parts and technologies.
13. Mentor Junior and Professional Engineers.

Preferred candidate profile

1. Completed university degree.
2. Preferably a technical degree in mechanical engineering or a mechanical engineering technician qualification.
3. 12 years (Junior), 36 years (Professional), 7–10 years (Senior), and 10 or more years (Lead) of qualified experience in a comparable role in the packaging machinery.
4. Technical leadership skills (for Lead)
5. Confident application of relevant standards and legislation
6. Proficient use of Microsoft 365 applications
7. Proficient use of CAD systems and PDM/PLM systems, ideally Siemens Teamcenter and NX.

Good written and spoken English and German is an added advantage
