Job Summary

About the Role

Bizmetric is looking for a hands-on Data Architect to design and deliver modern lakehouse and data engineering solutions for our clients, primarily on Azure and Databricks. This is a build-and-lead role: you will own the architecture of client data platforms end-to-end, lead delivery workstreams, set engineering standards for the teams you work with, and act as the technical anchor in client conversations.

You will spend most of your time on data engineering and lakehouse architecture, with working ownership of the BI/serving layer and architectural awareness of ML, MLOps, and GenAI so your platforms are ready to support analytics and AI workloads. As a Databricks partner, we also expect you to contribute to pre-sales, build reusable accelerators, and grow the engineers around you.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Engineering & Lakehouse Architecture (primary focus) Design and deliver Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) lakehouse architectures on Azure

Databricks using Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.

Architect scalable batch and streaming ingestion and transformation pipelines (Structured Streaming,

Event Hubs, Auto Loader) using PySpark and Spark SQL.

Build config-/metadata-driven, reusable ingestion frameworks rather than one-off pipelines.

Define data modeling standards dimensional, Data Vault 2.0, 3NF across data lakes and warehouses.

Own performance and cost optimization: partitioning, liquid clustering / Z-order, Photon, cluster sizing,

and job tuning.

Implement CI/CD for data assets (Git-based workflows, Databricks Asset Bundles) and environment promotion.

2. Azure Data Platform Design end-to-end solutions across Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, Synapse

Analytics, and ADLS Gen2.

Select the right service for each workload and justify trade-offs to engineering and client stakeholders.

Ensure platforms are scalable, observable, and production-grade (monitoring, alerting, logging via Azure

Monitor / Log Analytics).

3. BI & Serving Layer (secondary focus) Design the Gold/serving layer to feed Power BI efficiently (star schemas, aggregations, serving tables).





Partner with BI developers on semantic models, dataset design, and refresh/performance patterns.

4. ML, MLOps & AI Enablement (architectural awareness) Architect platforms that support ML and AI workloads feature pipelines, MLflow-based model lifecycle,

and model serving integration without owning model development.

Maintain awareness of GenAI patterns (RAG, vector search, model serving) so platform decisions don't block AI adoption.

5. Data Governance & Security Implement governance using Unity Catalog and Microsoft Purview lineage, metadata management,

data classification, and data quality.

Enforce security and networking best practices: Microsoft Entra ID / RBAC, Key Vault, managed identities, Private Link / private endpoints, VNet integration, and encryption.

Ensure compliance with client and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, data residency).

6. Consulting, Delivery & Mentoring Act as the technical anchor in client engagements discovery, solution design, and architecture reviews.

Support pre-sales: solution proposals, effort estimation, and proof-of-concepts.

Build reusable accelerators and IP for the Databricks practice.

Mentor data engineers and enforce coding and architectural best practices.

Azure data platform: ADF, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, ADLS Gen2.

Databricks (core pillar): Lakehouse & Medallion architecture, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog,

Workflows, PySpark, Spark SQL, performance tuning.

Data engineering: ETL/ELT, batch & streaming, data modeling, data warehousing & data lakes.

Languages: SQL, Python, PySpark.

Security & networking: Entra ID / RBAC, Key Vault, managed identities, Private Link, VNet,

encryption, secrets management.

Governance: lineage, metadata, data quality, classification, compliance.

DevOps basics: Git, CI/CD for data pipelines.

Good-to-Have

Microsoft Fabric: OneLake, Direct Lake, Fabric Data Factory, semantic models, Real-Time Intelligence.

Multi-cloud: AWS (S3, Glue,



Databricks on AWS); GCP awareness.

IaC: Terraform or Bicep; Databricks Asset Bundles for environment promotion.

BI depth: Power BI semantic modeling, DAX, Direct Lake.

ML/MLOps: MLflow, feature stores, model serving, Azure ML.

GenAI/AI: LLMs, RAG, vector search, Azure AI Foundry, Databricks Mosaic AI.

Streaming: Kafka.
