Position Overview

Amatir invites applications for the position of Counsellor Pastoral Care, a deeply nurturing and responsibility-intensive role focused on the emotional, social, and mental well-being of resident girl students (ages 10 to 18).

This role is ideal for a compassionate professional who sees counselling not as a time-bound service, but as a relationship of trust, presence, and care within a residential community.

This is a residential, immersive role and not suitable for candidates seeking fixed office hours or a day-school work model.

Job Responsibilities

- Provide continuous emotional and psychological support to resident students, ensuring they feel safe, heard, and cared for while living away from home.
- Conduct individual and group counselling sessions addressing personal, social, academic, and adolescent challenges.
- Be a consistent, approachable presence in the hostel, engaging in informal interactions, floor meetings, and regular check-ins with students.
- Identify early signs of distress, behavioural changes, or emotional challenges and initiate timely interventions or referrals.
- Develop and implement crisis response and intervention protocols while maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Foster a hostel culture rooted in empathy, respect, inclusion, and emotional safety; actively discourage bullying, shaming, or exclusionary behaviour.
- Organise workshops and sessions on mental health, emotional regulation, body positivity, stress management, adolescent issues, and life skills.
- Work closely with parents, school leadership, hostel staff, and the Dean Pastoral Care to support students holistically.
- Maintain detailed,



confidential documentation, reports, and records in compliance with institutional and legal protocols.
- Participate actively in the residential rhythm of the Gurukul, including evenings, weekends, and times when students are present in the hostel.

Desired Candidate Profile

- Female candidate only
- Masters Degree in Psychology (Clinical Psychology preferred)
- RCI Registration preferred
- Prior experience in school counselling, adolescent mental health, residential institutions, or hostel settings preferred
- Strong emotional intelligence, patience, and ability to build trust with adolescent girls
- Comfortable with community living and high levels of student interaction
- Deep sense of responsibility, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
