Job Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and result-oriented Area Sales Manager – General Trade to drive sales growth, expand distributor networks, and strengthen retail market presence across the assigned territory.

The candidate will be responsible for managing distributors, driving primary and secondary sales, expanding retail coverage, achieving sales targets, and ensuring strong brand visibility.

Candidates with experience in FMCG, Personal Care, Skincare, Cosmetics, Hygiene Products, or Consumer Goods will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sales & Business Development

- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Develop and expand General Trade distribution networks.
- Drive primary and secondary sales across assigned territories.
- Identify new business opportunities and increase market penetration.

2. Distributor Management

- Appoint, onboard, and manage distributors.
- Build strong relationships with distributors and wholesalers.
- Monitor distributor inventory, billing, stock replenishment, and collections.
- Ensure effective execution of sales plans through channel partners.

3. Retail Market Expansion

- Conduct regular market visits to retailers, wholesalers, supermarkets, pharmacies, and cosmetic stores.
- Expand retail outlet coverage and improve product availability.
- Ensure proper product visibility and shelf placement.
- Drive retailer engagement and repeat orders.

4. Team Management

- Guide and supervise Field Sales Officers and Sales Executives.
- Monitor daily sales activities and market coverage.
- Support and motivate team members to achieve sales targets.




- Track individual and team performance.

5. Market Intelligence

- Monitor competitor pricing, schemes, product launches, and promotional activities.
- Collect feedback from distributors and retailers.
- Identify opportunities for new product placements and category expansion.

6. Sales Reporting & Operations

- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports.
- Track primary and secondary sales performance.
- Monitor distributor performance, collections, and inventory.
- Maintain accurate sales records using MS Excel and CRM tools.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in FMCG General Trade Sales.
- Graduate in any discipline.
- Experience in distributor handling and channel sales.
- Strong understanding of General Trade (GT) sales and territory management.
- Experience in primary and secondary sales.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and sales reporting tools.
- Ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
- Solid leadership and target achievement skills.
