Role purpose
Designs, builds, tests and maintains facility specific simulation models for warehouses and depots, using measured process data to test layout, labour, space, capacity and process policy changes before they reach the floor.
Key responsibilities
- Develop discrete event simulation models in AnyLogic for warehouses, depots and material flow operations
- Configure process flows, layouts, resources and labour, queues, handling equipment, shift patterns, warehouse routing logic, storage capacity and constraints
- Use operational parameters from Celonis, such as cycle times, arrival patterns, variants, rework rates, utilisation, dwell and throughput, as model inputs
- Support the handover, assessment and enhancement of existing models
- Build new models to each site layout and operating requirement
- Configure what if experiments for layout, labour, capacity, space, equipment and process policy changes
- Calibrate parameters against actual operational data
- Perform verification, sensitivity analysis and scenario comparison
- Build reusable,
modular model components on the client cloud setting
- Document assumptions, parameters, logic, limitations and operating instructions
- Support demonstrations, UAT, training and handover
- Resolve model defects and performance issues
Required skills and experience
- 4 to 7 years of AnyLogic model development
- Discrete event simulation
- Java within AnyLogic
- Understanding of warehouse and logistics operations
- Experience modelling material movement, queues, resource constraints, capacity, labour and layouts
- Statistics and probability distributions
- Working with SQL, YAML, Python, Excel, CSV or databases for model inputs
Preferred
- AnyLogic certification and integration with Celonis
- Warehousing, manufacturing or material handling experience
- Familiarity with Celonis
Success measures
- Model accuracy against actual operational outcomes
- Reusable, documented components
- Models delivered to facility milestones
