1. Job Purpose

To provide counselling and guidance to patients and their attendants regarding EDC-related services, explain the treatment and procedural requirements, coordinate with doctors and other departments, and ensure smooth patient flow while maintaining patient confidentiality and satisfaction.

1. Key Roles and Responsibilities

A.

Patient

Counselling

- Counsel patients and their attendants regarding EDC services and procedures.

- Explain the purpose, process and importance of the recommended services in simple language.

- Provide explicit information about the patient's next steps and required investigations.

- Address patient queries politely and guide them appropriately.

- Ensure patients understand the instructions provided by the treating doctor.

B.

Patient

Coordination

- Coordinate with doctors, nurses and other departments for smooth patient movement.

- Guide patients to the appropriate departments and service areas.

- Assist in scheduling appointments and follow-up visits.

- Ensure timely communication of patient-related information to the concerned staff.

- Follow up with patients wherever required.

C. Nursing and Clinical Support

- Assist in basic nursing activities within the scope of ANM qualification.

- Check and record basic patient details and vital signs, wherever required and authorized.

- Maintain proper patient records and counselling documentation.

- Support patient preparation for procedures as instructed by the clinical team.

- Follow infection control practices and hospital protocols.

D. Documentation and Reporting

- Maintain daily counselling registers and patient follow-up records.

- Record patient queries, counselling details and outcomes.

- Prepare daily and monthly counselling activity reports.





- Ensure accurate entry of patient information in the hospital system.

- Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records.

Satisfaction

- Handle patient concerns with patience and empathy.

- Ensure patients receive proper guidance and support.

- Escalate complex clinical queries and complaints to the concerned doctor or supervisor.

- Maintain professional behaviour and a patient-friendly approach.

- Good communication skills in Tamil and basic English.

- Patient counselling and interpersonal skills.

- Empathy and patience in handling patients.

- Basic nursing and clinical knowledge.

1. Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Number of patients counselled per day.

- Accuracy and completeness of counselling records.

- Patient satisfaction and feedback.

- Timely patient coordination and follow-up.

- Reduction in patient queries due to incomplete information.

- Compliance with hospital policies and infection control practices.

1. Educational Qualification

- Diploma in Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) from a recognized institution.

- Valid registration with the applicable nursing council, as required.

- Experience in hospital patient care or counselling will be an added advantage.

1. General Expectations

- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional ethics.

- Follow hospital rules, regulations and departmental protocols.

- Be willing to work in shifts as per departmental requirements.

- Undertake additional responsibilities assigned by the department in-charge.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
