Business Intelligence Developer
REPORTS TO
Controller
DEPARTMENT
Finance
STATUS
Full Time
SUMMARY & OBJECTIVE
The Business Intelligence Developer builds and maintains XMA's Microsoft Power BI reporting for Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, Finance and company leadership. The position is part of XMA's shared services model and is performed by an affiliated overseas partner. It reports to XMA's Controller for the reporting function, and day to day administrative supervision is provided by the partner organization.
The role is hands-on across the full reporting cycle. The Developer writes the SQL that extracts and transforms Syte Line data, designs the semantic models, builds and deploys the dashboards, automates the refreshes, and documents the logic behind each published measure. The Developer also works directly with leaders in each function to define and validate the measures they manage by, from on-time delivery, yield, utilization and inventory through to bookings, backlog, cost variances and profitability, and reconciles published reporting to XMA's established operational and financial results.
An early priority is the orderly transition of XMA's existing outsourced Tableau reporting, phased so that the reporting the business depends on is not disrupted. Information Technology remains responsible for infrastructure, security and systems administration, and functional leaders remain responsible for business definitions and for the controls their reporting supports. This position is not a general information technology resource.
Success is measured by the accuracy, timeliness and adoption of published reporting across all functions, by the quality of the documentation behind it, and by XMA's reduced dependence on outsourced report development. As the reporting environment matures, the position is expected to take on broader analytical and data platform responsibilities.

5.
Build and maintain financial and commercial reporting, covering bookings, backlog, revenue, standard cost variances, inventory valuation and profitability.
6.
Document source definitions, data lineage, transformations and calculation logic so that published reporting is transparent, auditable and maintainable by another developer.
7.
Take inventory of XMA's existing outsourced Tableau reporting and migrate prioritized capabilities to Power BI, operating reporting in parallel and reconciling results before a legacy report is retired, directing external technical resources where they are engaged to assist.
8.
Apply data quality checks, reconciliation routines and exception monitoring so that errors are identified before the business relies on the reporting.
9.
Maintain reporting access controls, including row level and object level security, and handle XMA data in accordance with confidentiality, data handling and export control requirements.
10.
Maintain reporting governance, including a catalog of published measures and their definitions, change and version control, and a published refresh and availability schedule.
