Role overview. Teach ukulele live online to learners of every age, especially kids and adult beginners looking for a fun first instrument. You will get learners playing real songs quickly while building good technique and musical understanding.
Key responsibilities
- Teach fundamentals: holding and tuning, basic chords, strumming patterns, rhythm and chord changes
- Progress learners to fingerpicking, melody playing, chord melody and simple music theory
- Build a song-based curriculum across genres (pop, folk, Hawaiian, Bollywood, kids' songs)
- Teach reading of chord charts and tabs; demonstrate clearly on camera and correct technique in real time
- Make sessions playful and age-appropriate, especially for young learners and small groups of up to 6
- Share song sheets and practice plans; track progress on the dashboard across 12 to 96 session plans
- Keep sessions punctual and follow MakRew's code of conduct and child-safety policy
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience teaching ukulele online
- Strong playing technique and valuable grasp of basic music theory
- Ability to give at least 6 hours per week to MakRew
- Fluent spoken English
- Your own ukulele, and a camera and audio set-up that captures both hands and clear sound
Preferred
- Certificates in ukulele or a related instrument (e.g. Trinity, Rockschool, LCM) or a music qualification
- Experience teaching children
- A strong social media presence featuring your playing or lessons
- Ability to also teach guitar or vocals
