Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Fiber Optic Assembly Technician to join our medical devices manufacturing team.
Responsibilities
- 1. Bundle Assembly & Fiber Handling
Count, measure, bundle, and draw raw optical glass fibers into protective silicone or stainless steel flexible tubing/sleeving.
Thread raw fibers into stainless steel end connectors while maintaining uniform fiber density and preventing breakage.
Clean raw glass fiber bundles using specialized solvents and ultrasonic baths prior to potting.
2. Adhesive Bonding
Mix, measure, and apply high-temperature, medical-grade epoxies and light-cure UV adhesives.
Inject adhesive into the connector to fully encapsulate glass fiber bundles.
3. Precision Polishing & End-Face Termination
Trim extended glass fibers using diamond scribes.
Hand-polish optical end-faces using multi-stage diamond/lapping films to achieve high surface flatness and scratch-free optical surfaces.
4. Optical Testing & Quality Assurance
Measure light transmission efficiency, spectral output, using a light meter.
Perform high-intensity thermal testing to ensure adhesive stability under high-power LED medical light sources.
Requirements
- ITI / Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field preferred.
- Candidates with experience in fiber optic assembly or related technical work are preferred.
- Stitching / sewing skills are an added advantage.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
