Position: Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) Operator

Department: Operations & Maintenance (O&M;)

Experience: Minimum 2 Years in ETP Operations

Qualification: ITI / Diploma / B.Sc / M.Sc (Chemistry)

Location: Erode

Reporting To: ETP Supervisor / Site In-Charge

1. Job Responsibilities

- Operate and maintain the ETP as per the approved operating procedure (SOP).
- Monitor daily ETP operations and ensure smooth plant functioning.
- Handle chemical preparation, dosing and consumption monitoring.
- Perform jar tests and assist in chemical dosage optimization.
- Monitor pH, TDS, COD, BOD, TSS and other water quality parameters.
- Operate and monitor pumps, blowers, agitators, filters and other equipment.
- Monitor coagulation, flocculation, clarification and filtration processes.
- Ensure proper sludge collection, dewatering and disposal.
- Maintain daily operational records, logbooks and chemical consumption reports.
- Collect raw, intermediate and treated water samples for analysis.
- Identify equipment abnormalities and report breakdowns to the supervisor.
- Maintain housekeeping and cleanliness of the ETP area.
- Follow safety procedures while handling chemicals and operating equipment.
- Ensure treated wastewater quality meets applicable PCB consent requirements.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.

2. Technical Knowledge Required





- Physicochemical ETP treatment process.
- Biological treatment process – UASBR
- Chemical dosing – PAC, Alum, Lime, HCl, NaOH and Polyelectrolyte.
- Filter operation – PSF, ACF and pressure filters.
- Sludge handling and dewatering.
- Basic laboratory analysis and water testing.
- Pump, blower and motor operation.

3. Documentation & Reporting

- Daily ETP operation report.
- Chemical consumption report.
- Water quality analysis report.
- Equipment running hours.
- Sludge generation and disposal records.
- Daily plant inspection checklist.

4. Required Skills

- Basic knowledge of ETP operation and troubleshooting.
- Ability to handle chemicals safely.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Positive communication and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently at project sites.
- Willingness to work in shifts, if required.

5. Performance Expectations (KPI)

- Smooth and uninterrupted ETP operation.
- Maintaining treated water quality as per applicable standards.
- Proper chemical consumption control.
- Timely identification and reporting of equipment failures.
- Maintaining operational records accurately.
- Maintaining plant cleanliness and workplace safety.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
