About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated Background Verification (BGV) & Compliance Specialist with 2–5 years of hands-on experience managing end-to-end background verification processes. The role focuses exclusively on verification checks, documentation, discrepancy resolution and compliance management.

Ideal Candidate

Someone who has personally carried out and closed BGV cases, not only coordinated vendors or tracked statuses, and can independently own verification, investigate discrepancies and deliver compliant case closure.

Key Responsibilities End-to-End Background Verification

- Independently manage the complete background verification process for candidates and employees.
- Execute and coordinate employment history, education, criminal record, identity, address and professional reference checks.
- Verify previous employment and relieving documents, investigate employment gaps and discrepancies, and complete client-specific checks.
- Ensure verification cases are closed accurately within agreed turnaround times (TATs).

Compliance & Documentation

- Collect, review and validate candidate documents and maintain audit-ready verification records.
- Ensure appropriate consent, confidentiality and compliance with applicable data privacy requirements and client policies.
- Identify missing, inconsistent or potentially fraudulent information and escalate adverse findings.

Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination





- Coordinate with BGV agencies, former employers, and relevant authorities.
- Follow up on pending cases, resolve delays and liaise with recruitment, HR and account management teams.

Reporting & Process Management

- Maintain accurate BGV trackers and provide daily/weekly updates on completed, pending, delayed and flagged cases.
- Monitor TATs, support internal and client audits, and improve verification accuracy and efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

- 2–5 years of dedicated, hands-on background verification experience.
- Proven ability to personally execute and close multiple types of background checks.
- Strong knowledge of employment, education, identity, address, criminal and reference verification.
- Experience with BGV vendors and verification platforms, discrepancy investigation and complex cases.
- Robust documentation, MS Excel, reporting, follow-up and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Ability to manage high case volumes while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- Background in a BGV agency, recruitment/staffing business, IT services company or HR compliance team.
- Exposure to UK/India verification processes and client-specific compliance requirements is an advantage.

Key Performance Indicators

- Cases closed within agreed TATs and number of successfully completed verifications.
- Accuracy and completeness of reports, documentation and compliance adherence.
- Timely escalation of discrepancies and reduction in overdue cases.
