Luxury Couture & Embroidery Export House | Mumbai We are looking for a talented and curious Fashion & Embroidery Designer to join our creative team in Mumbai. This is an opportunity for a designer who loves the world of embroidery, textiles, couture and craftsmanship and wants to experience the complete journey of a design
- from an initial sketch or inspiration to artwork, sampling, material development and ultimately a finished piece. Working with an international clientele of luxury couture, bridal and fashion houses, you will develop embroidery for seasonal collections, runway shows, bespoke garments, custom artworks and one-of-a-kind projects. The role offers exposure to an exciting spectrum of design, materials and techniques, alongside the opportunity to communicate directly with international clients and work across different cultures and creative perspectives. THE ROLE As a Fashion & Embroidery Designer, you will be involved in both the creative and technical development of embroidery projects. Your responsibilities will include: Creative Design & Development
• Creating original embroidery concepts, artworks, layouts and placements for client projects.
• Developing custom embroidery samples based on client sketches, mood boards, references and inspirational briefs.
• Developing seasonal embroidery collections, swatches, trims, motifs and surface-design concepts.
• Working on special developments for couture collections, bridalwear, runway shows, bespoke garments and custom art pieces.
• Exploring new combinations of embroidery techniques, materials, textures, colours and finishes.
• Translating creative ideas into technically achievable embroidery suitable for sampling and production. Client Communication & Project Development
• Understanding client briefs, technical sheets, sketches and references and translating them into clear development directions.
• Communicating directly with clients regarding design development, WIPs, material options, amendments and approvals.
• Preparing professional presentations, sample boards,
material charts and development updates.
• Maintaining clear communication throughout the sampling process and ensuring approvals are documented before proceeding to subsequent stages. Sampling & Artisan Coordination
• Working closely with our sampling masters, artisans and sampling department to translate artworks into physical embroidery.
• Explaining designs, techniques, placements, dimensions and material specifications clearly to artisans.
• Monitoring samples during development and making creative or technical corrections where required.
• Planning sampling priorities and following up internally to ensure developments are completed within client deadlines.
• Maintaining quality, consistency and attention to detail across all samples. Costing & Commercial Development
• Preparing sample and production costings based on materials, techniques, artisan hours and design complexity.
• Developing or modifying designs according to client target prices and budgets without compromising the intended aesthetic.
• Understanding the relationship between creativity, workmanship, production feasibility and commercial viability. Material Sourcing & Purchase Coordination
• Researching and sourcing beads, sequins, crystals, threads, fabrics, trims and other embroidery materials.
• Coordinating purchase requirements for sampling projects.
• Following up on purchase orders and ensuring materials are available according to sampling schedules.
• Exploring new materials, suppliers and creative surface-development possibilities. Design Documentation & Organisation
• Maintaining organised records of artworks, technical sheets, material charts, colour references,
digital data/media/images and client approvals.
• Preparing and maintaining costing sheets, sample trackers and design-development records in Excel.
• Creating an organised digital archive of client and seasonal developments.
• Ensuring specifications and approved references are correctly communicated when a design moves from sampling into production. WHY JOIN US ? This is not a role limited to designing behind a computer. You will see your ideas move from inspiration → artisan sampling → client approval → couture creation. You will have the opportunity to work alongside skilled embroidery artisans while developing projects for international couture, bridal and luxury fashion clientele. One week may involve developing intricate embroidery for a runway collection; another may involve interpreting an archival reference, experimenting with an unusual material or creating a completely bespoke artwork for a client. Working across cultures also means continually encountering different aesthetics, techniques, expectations and ways of approaching design. For someone passionate about fashion, textiles, craftsmanship and couture, the position offers an opportunity to develop both as a designer and as a professional who understands how a luxury embroidery export house operates from concept through production.
