Job Title: Gemstone Photo Retoucher & Graphic Editor
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Gemstone Photo Retoucher & Graphic Editor to join our creative team. Editing loose gemstones requires a specialized eye—balancing razor-sharp facet definition and Clean background removal with strict color and clarity accuracy. You will transform raw macro photography and videos of diamonds and colored gemstones into high-converting visual assets for our e-commerce store, catalogs, and social media channels while maintaining the authentic appearance of every stone.
Key Responsibilities
• High-End Gem Retouching: Clean up surface dust, lint, tweezers, and unwanted studio glare from high-resolution macro photos of loose diamonds and colored gemstones without altering natural internal inclusions or facet structures.
• True-to-Life Color Grading: Calibrate hue, saturation, and luminance so digital images accurately represent the physical gemstone under standard daylight conditions.
• Focus Stacking & Compositing: Merge multi-focus macro shots (helicon/focus stacking) to achieve edge-to-edge sharpness across deep pavilions and tables.
• Background Removal & Shadow Creation: Execute precise pen-tool clipping paths around complex faceted edges and create natural, consistent drop shadows or reflections on pure white, black, or custom backgrounds.
• 360° & Video Editing: Color-correct, stabilize,
and crop 360-degree gemstone rotation videos and short-form social reels.
• Graphic Design Support: Design promotional banners, stone comparison graphics, certification layouts, and social media creatives featuring loose stones.
• Catalog & File Management: Maintain organized digital asset libraries with standardized file naming, SKU tagging, and export specs optimized for web speed and print quality. Requirements & Qualifications
• Proven Gemstone
Experience:
Minimum [1–3+] years of professional retouching experience specifically with loose colored gemstones, diamonds, or fine jewelry.
• Software Mastery: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom; working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Premiere Pro, or After Effects, plus focus-stacking software (e.g., Helicon Focus) is a solid plus.
• Technical Precision: Mastery of the Pen Tool, frequency separation, dodge and burn, and non-destructive layer workflows.
• Gemological Visual Literacy: Understanding of how light interacts with different cuts (brilliant, step, cabochon) and the ethical boundaries of gemstone retouching (knowing the difference between surface dust and natural clarity characteristics).
• Portfolio: A link to a portfolio showcasing before-and-after examples of loose gemstone retouching is required for consideration.
