HMI Software Lead Developer– UAV Ground Control Systems (VC++, MFC, Win32)
Location:
Hyderabad, India (Hybrid/In office)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly technical and hands-on Software Lead to take ownership of our core Ground Control Station (GCS) and mission planning applications. In the mission-critical UAV sector, our ground control software acts as the central nervous system for flight operations, telemetry monitoring, and payload management. You will lead a dedicated engineering pod to architect, modernize, and scale our Windows-based applications, ensuring rock-solid reliability for complex flight profiles. What You Will Do
• Technical Leadership: Lead the architecture, design, and development of high-performance desktop applications used for UAV mission planning, live telemetry tracking, and payload control.
• Core Development: Write, review, and optimize complex multithreaded code using VC++, MFC, and Win32 APIs for Windows environments.
• Team Mentorship: Guide a team of software engineers, enforcing rigorous code quality, memory management practices, and peer review standards.
• Systems Integration: Interface ground software with UAV flight controllers and communication links using protocols like MAVLink, UDP/TCP, and custom serial interfaces.
• Safety & Compliance: Champion aerospace software standards (such as DO-178C guidelines where applicable) to ensure mission-critical reliability and fault tolerance.
• Legacy Modernization:
Strategically decouple and refactor legacy MFC codebases into modular architectures to support future cross-platform or UI/UX scaling. What You Bring
•
Experience:
6+ years of hands-on software development with a minimum of 2+ years in a technical leadership or team lead capacity.
• Core Stack: Deep, uncompromising expertise in C++, VC++, Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC), and Win32 API.
• Concurrency: Strong command of multithreading, asynchronous I/O, IPC, and memory leak profiling in a Windows environment.
• Networking: Proven experience with network socket programming (TCP/UDP) for real-time, low-latency data streaming.
• Problem Solving: Exceptional debugging skills using Visual Studio tools, WinDbg, and performance profilers. Standout Qualifications (Nice to Have)
• Prior experience in the aerospace, defense, or UAV industry developing GCS or avionics software.
• Familiarity with geographic information systems (GIS), map rendering (GDAL, QtLocation), or 3D rendering (OpenGL/DirectX).
• Knowledge of aerospace safety-critical verification processes (DO-178C, DO-330). Why Join Us? You will be directly influencing the software that commands next-generation unmanned aerial systems.
We offer
a culture of high engineering rigor, competitive compensation, and the opportunity to build products that solve real-world logistical and defense challenges.
