Role Overview SMEC Automation is looking for an experienced Senior PLC Programmer with strong hands-on expertise in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA development, system integration, troubleshooting, and commissioning. Candidates with practical experience in Marine, Offshore, Shipbuilding, Oil & Gas,



or heavy industrial automation environments will be strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
• Independently develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs for industrial automation systems.
• Configure and develop HMI/SCADA applications, control logic, alarms, and operator interfaces.
• Handle system integration, testing, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Diagnose and resolve PLC, I/O, instrumentation, and communication-related issues.
• Work with electrical drawings, P&IDs;, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
• Coordinate with clients, shipyards, vessel teams, and project engineers.
• Provide on-site and offshore technical support, including installation, commissioning, and system upgrades. Requirements & Experience
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.
• Proven experience with Schneider Electric PLC, HMI and Siemens PLC systems.
• Solid practical knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal / Step 7.
• Experience in automation systems, industrial communication protocols, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
• Ability to independently handle PLC programming assignments and on-site technical responsibilities.
• Engineering degree or diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Automation, or a related discipline.
