Role Description The Shift Engineer role at Oerlikon is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Chennai Area. This role is responsible for monitoring and operating production equipment, ensuring that coating and surface treatment processes run safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards. The Shift Engineer performs routine inspections, identifies and resolves technical issues, coordinates with maintenance and production teams, and documents shift activities and performance metrics. The role also includes implementing standard operating procedures, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and adhering to safety and environmental regulations.



Collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet production targets and optimize equipment reliability is a key part of the daily responsibilities. Qualifications
• Technical knowledge in mechanical, electrical, or production engineering, with the ability to understand and work with industrial machinery and process equipment.
• Experience in shift-based manufacturing or industrial operations, including monitoring production lines, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating with maintenance teams.
• Understanding of quality assurance practices, process control, and basic data analysis to ensure consistent product quality and process efficiency.
• Knowledge of workplace safety, environmental compliance, and safe operating procedures in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to make sound decisions under time-sensitive conditions.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, production, and maintenance functions.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Production, or related field) or equivalent practical experience in a similar role.
• Prior experience in surface technologies, coating processes, or materials engineering is an advantage but not mandatory.
