Your Mission We are hiring a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer to take the hardest AI problems in Finance and Global Business Services from whiteboard to production for a global pharmaceutical company, and to set the patterns the rest of the team builds on. You will join a function team, define the problem, and lead the build from first prototype through production handoff and support, taking the engagements that span multiple systems or teams in areas such as financial close, forecasting, accounts receivable, procure-to-pay, tax, treasury and shared services operations. This is a senior hands-on individual contributor and technical lead role in the company's Finance and Global Business Services technology and AI capability center in Chennai. You will set the engineering patterns other Forward Deployed Engineers follow, review their designs and code, and still write code every week, alongside Product Owners, process owners, and digital platform and architecture teams. You will work directly with Finance and Global Business Services leaders worldwide, so you find out fast whether what you build works. You can grow your career through technical leadership without moving into people management. Success is measured by adoption, demonstrable business outcomes (time saved, quality, risk, controls, cycle time, better decisions, financial impact) and how much of your work others reuse. The role needs regular overlap with US and European time zones, including some early-evening IST calls, and can be demanding at times, including period-end close support and leading the response to production incidents. You don't need every bonus skill listed. If you have led AI into production that people use and want to work close to the business, we want to hear from you. What You ll Do Problem Discovery and Business Partnership
• Work in person in Chennai while embedding virtually with assigned Finance and Global Business Services teams.
• Lead discovery for complex, cross-functional use cases through regular calls, screen-share walkthroughs and process reviews with senior stakeholders and process owners across regions, including the US and Europe, and shape them into roadmaps with measurable outcomes.
• Work with Product Owners to turn priorities and specifications into solution designs and delivery plans, and to rank use cases by value, feasibility and risk.
• Say no, or not yet, when a use case lacks data, sponsorship or a clear value case, and push back when a specification doesn't match the underlying problem or runs into technical issues and limitations.



Technical Leadership and Build
• Serve as technical lead on complex engagements: own solution design, stay hands-on in the code, and lead the design of agentic AI built with frontier models on the company's enterprise AI platforms.
• Design multi-agent and multi-step workflows on Azure AI Foundry, Vertex AI and other market-leading runtimes, using frameworks such as Microsoft Agent Framework, LangGraph and Lang Chain, with MCP, A2A and APIs connecting enterprise systems, deterministic business rules and human approval steps.
• Set coding standards, evaluation practice and quality bars for the engagements you lead, including review standards for AI-generated code.
• Use AI coding agents in your daily workflow to speed delivery, show other engineers how to use them well, and make build-versus-buy and platform choices with digital platform and architecture teams. Data and Enterprise Integration
• Lead integration across Finance and Global Business Services data and systems through governed MCP tools or APIs and certified data products, such as SAP S/4HANA, Snowflake (including Cortex), Databricks, SAP Ariba and Business Network, Oracle EPM, Microsoft 365, other enterprise platforms and custom solutions.
• Help shape a shared Finance and Global Business Services data and AI foundation (ontology, rules engine, MCP tool library and decision ledger), and decide which patterns become shared building blocks.
• Define data contracts, semantic models and access patterns, and extend the shared ontology and business rules, such as Delegation of Authority, Segregation of Duties and materiality, that other engineers and agents reuse.
• Set data access, entitlement and classification practice for financial and personal data on the engagements you lead. Controls, Compliance and Responsible AI
• Own control design for your solutions. Engage SOX, Internal Audit, Privacy, Legal, Security and AI governance early, including data privacy (GDPR, India DPDP Act) and EU AI Act review, and pass required gates before release.
• Define evaluation and monitoring for accuracy, drift and failure modes on financial outputs, and make sure agent evidence, approvals and actions are recorded in the decision ledger.
• Enforce responsible AI safeguards: data access controls, prompt injection defenses, human review and output monitoring. Production, Reliability and Reuse
• Own production readiness and ongoing support for the solutions you lead: LLMOps practice, deployment pipelines, monitoring, incident response and run costs.
• Establish support ownership, runbooks, service expectations, escalation paths, knowledge transfer and root cause analysis for production solutions.
• Set the standard for logging, tracing, monitoring and alerting with Azure Monitor, Application Insights and Foundry Observability.
• Convert proven solutions into reusable components, templates and accelerators across Finance and Global Business Services, and identify and pay down technical debt before it blocks scale. Mentoring, Value and Adoption
• Mentor Manager-level Forward Deployed Engineers,



and engineers in Finance and Global Business Services function teams, through design reviews, pairing and code review.
• Contribute to Forward Deployed Engineering playbooks, interview loops and team upskilling.
• Build business cases and track realized value: hours saved, cycle time, cost avoidance and risk reduction.
• Present results and tradeoffs to senior Finance and Global Business Services stakeholders and Forward Deployed Engineering leadership, and build champions in the business so adoption sticks. What You Bring Engineering and AI Delivery
• 7+ years of software or data engineering experience, including at least three years building and shipping LLM-based applications to production, with at least one multi-step agentic system with tool use, evaluation and monitoring.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related field.
• Technical lead experience on complex, multi-system builds.
• Expert-level Python, with strong TypeScript/JavaScript and SQL.
• Hands-on experience with cloud architecture, ideally Azure; AWS is also considered. Includes API-first design, CI/CD and observability.
• Hands-on LLMOps practice: evaluation, tracing, and prompt, model and agent versioning.
• Daily use of AI coding agents in your own engineering work, with the judgement to review AI-generated code. Business Partnership and Leadership
• Able to partner with the business, turn messy problems into working solutions, and show the impact in numbers.
• Proven ability to influence senior business stakeholders without formal authority.
• Experience mentoring engineers. Preferred Qualifications
• A Master's degree in a technical field, or a finance or accounting background combined with engineering experience.
• Deep knowledge of finance processes such as record-to-report, order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, FP&A; or treasury, or prior work in finance technology.
• Experience integrating with SAP (S/4HANA, GTS, Ariba), Snowflake (including Cortex), Databricks, the Azure AI stack (AI Foundry, AI Search, Document Intelligence, Azure ML), Vertex AI or Oracle EPM; comparable enterprise platforms are also considered.
• Experience with agent orchestration frameworks such as Microsoft Agent Framework, Lang Graph or Lang Chain, MCP server development and A2A; other orchestration frameworks are also considered.
• Experience with ontologies, knowledge graphs or rules engines.
• Experience with SOX and IT general controls in a regulated industry.
• Experience turning bespoke solutions into reusable platforms or products.
• AWS or Azure Solutions Architect or Developer certification, or the equivalent on other market-leading platforms.
