• Provide senior, hands-on technical leadership to the Bengaluru-based build and engineering teams supporting a banking customer.
• The role will strengthen engineering depth, mentor technical leaders and developers, institutionalize quality practices, and improve predictable delivery and productivity across offshore squads.

Key Responsibilities
• Act as the senior offshore engineering authority for Java and microservices delivery across multiple squads.
• Remain close to the code and solution design by reviewing critical designs, APIs, code changes, integration approaches and non-functional requirements.
• Coach technical leads and engineers through structured mentoring, design clinics, code reviews, paired problem-solving and reusable engineering guidance.
• Define and enforce engineering standards for clean code, design patterns, secure coding, API design, exception handling, observability and documentation.
• Embed shift-left quality practices, including test-driven development, automated unit and component testing, API contract testing, static code analysis and early security checks.
• Establish consistent quality gates and engineering exit criteria across development, CI/CD, system integration and release readiness.
• Drive root-cause analysis for escaped defects, recurring incidents,



rework and performance issues; ensure preventive actions are adopted across squads.
• Improve productivity through reusable frameworks, accelerators, automation, development standards and reduction of manual or repetitive engineering work.
• Assess team capability, identify skill gaps, create targeted learning plans and build succession for technical lead and architect roles.
• Partner with onsite solution architects, customer technology stakeholders, delivery managers, product owners, QA and DevOps teams to resolve technical dependencies early.
• Provide transparent reporting on engineering health, quality trends, capability progress, technical risks and improvement actions.
• Promote responsible use of GenAI-based engineering assistants where approved, with appropriate controls for security, confidentiality, code quality and human review.

• Banking and Delivery Experience
• Experience delivering technology solutions for banks or regulated financial-services organizations.
• Understanding of transaction-intensive, highly available systems and the controls expected in regulated environments.
• Experience leading engineering across geographically distributed onsite and offshore teams and multiple concurrent squads.
• Ability to balance engineering rigor with delivery commitments, customer priorities and operational risk.

• The person should be comfortable moving between architecture discussions, code and design reviews, quality-governance forums and capability-building sessions, with a clear focus on improving the quality and productivity of offshore banking engineering teams.
• Qualifications
• Education and Experience
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• 12-18 years of software engineering experience, with substantial hands-on Java and microservices expertise.
• At least 4 years in a senior technical leadership role guiding multiple teams or squads.
• Experience in a product engineering, application development or large-scale modernization environment.

• Strong hands-on experience in Java/J2EE, Java 11 or later, Spring, Spring Boot and production-grade microservices.
• Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, API contracts, service decomposition, domain-driven design, synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns.
