Role overviewMogi I/O is hiring a Senior Backend and DevOps Engineer to own the Go services, streaming pipelines and on-premises Kubernetes infrastructure behind our video platform — live streaming, transcoding and secure content delivery at tens of millions of requests a day. About Mogi I/O: We build video infrastructure — live streaming, video-on-demand, transcoding and protected delivery — for media companies, creators and government projects. Our platform runs primarily on our own on-premises Kubernetes infrastructure, with GCP also in use, and our engineers own their systems end to end, from code to production.

What you'll do
You will design, build and run the Go services and infrastructure that keep our streams fast, secure and available under heavy load. Backend & distributed systems
• Design and build high-throughput, concurrent Go services (goroutines, channels, context) that serve tens of millions of requests per day
• Plan capacity and optimise services as traffic grows by an order of magnitude
• Build safeguards against cascading failures — timeouts, retries, circuit breaking, rate limiting — so the platform holds up during traffic spikes
• Build stateless, horizontally scalable APIs backed by PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis and RabbitMQ Streaming & media
• Own live-streaming pipelines over RTMP/RTMPS, HLS and WebRTC, and push end-to-end latency down to a few seconds
• Build and maintain transcoding and packaging pipelines with FFmpeg and Shaka Packager (CMAF, fMP4), tuned for low-bandwidth devices and fast startup
• Build HLS encryption, URL signing and protected delivery through AWS CloudFront
• Run re-streaming to third-party platforms such as YouTube and Instagram On-prem infrastructure, Kubernetes & DevOps On-prem Kubernetes
• Build and run highly available on-premises Kubernetes clusters (kubeadm, RKE2 or similar): multi-node control plane, etcd backup and restore, node lifecycle, zero-downtime upgrades
• Own cluster networking: CNI (Cilium or Calico), MetalLB or BGP-based load balancing, ingress, VLANs, bonding, MTU tuning and DNS
• Manage scheduling and capacity: resource requests and limits, node pools, GPU or high-memory nodes where needed,



and capacity planning for traffic growth
• Plan backup, disaster recovery and handle failover Linux & storage
• Linux servers: basic performance tuning and troubleshooting
• Manage disks and storage for the cluster: disk setup, persistent volumes, monitoring disk health and capacity, and handling disk failures Proxmox
• Provision and manage VMs and LXC containers, including their networking and storage
• Build and maintain Proxmox clusters with high availability and live migration
• Configure storage (LVM, ZFS, Ceph, NFS) and networking (bridges, VLANs)
• Manage templates, backups and restores, and handle upgrades with minimal downtime
• Run Kubernetes nodes as Proxmox VMs and troubleshoot performance issues Cloud & DevOps
• Support workloads on GCP (GKE) and troubleshoot issues as they come up
• Manage infrastructure as code with Terraform across production and test environments
• Ship through GitOps with Argo CD and CI/CD pipelines on Jenkins and Docker
• Build serverless components on AWS Lambda where they fit, such as scheduling and EPG jobs Reliability & performance
• Run distributed load tests (Locust) to validate performance and failure behaviour before launches
• Instrument services, nodes and disks with Prometheus and Grafana, and own their alerts and dashboards
• Review code, mentor engineers and set backend standards for the team What we're looking forYou have 4+ years building backend systems and running the cloud infrastructure they deploy on, with Go services in production at scale.
• Strong Go: concurrency patterns, goroutines, channels, context, profiling and memory tuning
• Proven work on distributed systems that handle millions of requests per day, with measurable gains in latency, throughput or reliability




• Hands-on experience with at least one of FFmpeg, HLS, RTMP/RTMPS or WebRTC
• Production experience building and running on-premises Kubernetes: HA control plane, etcd backup and restore, upgrades, CNI, and ingress and load balancing (MetalLB, BGP or similar)
• Valuable Linux administration: systemd, networking, security hardening and troubleshooting
• Working knowledge of disks and storage: RAID/LVM, filesystems, disk health monitoring, and Kubernetes persistent volumes
• Working knowledge of AWS (EKS) and GCP (GKE), enough to troubleshoot issues
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform, plus CI/CD (Jenkins)
• PostgreSQL or MongoDB, Redis, and a message broker such as RabbitMQ
• Comfort with networking fundamentals: TCP, WebSockets, load balancing, CDNs
• Monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana, and experience debugging live incidents
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience Nice to have

• Packaging with Shaka Packager, CMAF and fMP4; DRM or HLS AES encryption
• AWS Lambda, CloudFront and signed-URL delivery
• Multi-site or multi-cluster Kubernetes with cross-cluster traffic management

• Load testing at scale with Locust, k6 or similar
• Working knowledge of Python or Node.js
