What are we looking for?A strong visual thinker with the eye, judgement and finishing skills to turn ideas into distinctive design. Someone who can see the bigger picture, care about the smallest detail and help a team do work they are proud of. You’ll lead a design team of 5–6 people, set the creative direction and bring ideas to life across brands, campaigns and platforms. You’ll be able to get the work ready to pitch, explain the thinking behind it and craft it until it sings. And you’ll be hungry to help make the organisation and the people in it famous. We value expertise that emerges from talent, intent and craft. A strong portfolio, sound creative judgement and the ability to lead and develop people are what we’re looking for. Experience in an advertising or creative agency would be valuable. What does the role involve?
• Leading and mentoring a team of 5–6 people, building their craft, confidence and ability to take ownership.
• Setting the visual direction for brands, integrated campaigns and tactical communication across digital, social, print and other relevant channels.
• Taking ownership of the quality, originality and consistency of the team’s work.
• Balancing creative ambition with timelines, available resources and the needs of the brand.
• Selling the work through compelling presentations that explain the idea and the thinking behind the design.
• Working closely and collaboratively with writers, strategists, brand partners, technology and production teams.
• Building a culture of curiosity, constructive feedback and attention to detail, with the ambition to create work that earns recognition. What will you do?
• Interpret creative briefs and develop visual concepts and design directions that connect the brand, the idea and the audience.
• Stay involved in the design itself, creating key visuals, exploring design routes and shaping pitches and projects that need your expertise.
• Allocate work across the team according to individual strengths, development needs and capacity. Set transparent expectations, plan reviews and flag resource or timeline challenges early.
• Lead design reviews and give specific, actionable feedback on both the idea and its execution.
• Be a brand custodian. Develop, interpret and apply visual guidelines while finding opportunities to evolve the brand’s design language.
• Build and present decks that make the work easy to understand, helping clients see the value of the proposed direction and responding thoughtfully to feedback.
• Guide work through to final delivery, checking typography, composition, imagery, colour, consistency and production readiness.
• Work with production, motion and technology partners to ensure ideas translate into finished work as intended.
• Hold regular conversations about performance and growth, support hiring when needed and help each team member become a stronger designer.
• Go beyond the brief to bring proactive ideas to brands and explore tools and techniques that improve the quality and efficiency of the work. Desired Skills & Experience
• A strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, visual storytelling and finishing skills across brands, campaigns and formats.
• Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring designers, improving the quality of their work and managing multiple projects.
• A strong command of typography, layout, composition, colour, imagery and brand identity systems.
• Proficiency in relevant design tools, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Figma, with an understanding of digital and print production.
• The confidence to explain design decisions, present work to clients and work constructively with different perspectives.
• An appreciation of motion, technology and emerging creative tools, and how they can contribute to a stronger idea.
• A degree in Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts or a related discipline is welcomed but not required with relevant experience and a strong body of work.
