Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Product Design & Development Engineer to lead innovation and engineering of current products from concept to production. The role involves designing cost-optimized, reliable systems, developing and testing prototypes, and ensuring compliance with relevant engineering standards. The candidate will provide technical leadership, manage project execution, and collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Expertise in structural design, material selection, FEM/FEA analysis, and SolidWorks 3D modeling is essential. With AI and automation reshaping engineering, this role also owns automating our design workflows, using SolidWorks with DriveWorks to generate engineering drawings, documents, and processes, and applying AI tools to speed up engineering work.

Key Responsibilities
New Product Design and Development:
• Innovate, conceive, design, engineer, and develop new products and/or improve existing products and document results in engineering and/or test reports
• Calculate and design for optimized system-level costs for new products.
• Bring ideas to life by creating and testing prototypes, iterating as required, to meet new product requirements.
• Investigate new technologies, tools, and processes and make recommendations for adoption as appropriate Product Engineering:
• Engineer products in accordance with appropriate regulatory requirements and associated standards, such as model building and electrical codes, ASCE 7, aluminum or steel design manuals, ASTM standards, etc.




• Select appropriate materials for applications, considering strength, deflection, cost, finish, corrosion, friction, tolerance-analysis etc.
• Perform FEM/FEA (structural, static and as needed dynamic/fatigue) to validate and optimize designs, and correlate results with test data.
• Engineer products considering techniques such as design for manufacturability, assembly, reliability
• Develop product acceptance criteria and test plans.
• Document product designs, engineering, test results and engineering changes in engineering reports. Engineering Process Automation and AI:
• Automate engineering drawings, BOMs, quotations, and technical documents using SolidWorks with DriveWorks (rule-based, configurator-driven design).
• Identify repetitive engineering tasks and processes, and automate them using SolidWorks API (macros), scripting, and workflow tools.
• Evaluate and apply AI tools (including generative AI and LLM-based tools) to accelerate design, analysis, documentation, and knowledge management, and recommend adoption where they add value. Project Management and Technical Leadership:




• Technical leadership including identification and application of appropriate engineering analyses and methods.
• Develop and lead on-time execution of product development project plans
• Present engineering designs and changes
• Coordinate, communicate, interact and provide technical support to other functional groups in the execution of product development projects Skill Requirements
• At least 8 years of experience in mechanical, structural engineering or similar
• Engineering analysis – Structural design, strength and cost optimization, material selection, and FEM/FEA analysis using tools such as SolidWorks Simulation or Inventor
• Innovative, think creatively, be hands-on and mechanically inclined
• Ability to generate concepts and create physical, testable prototypes
• Proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modeling, assemblies, and drawings AutoCAD familiarity.
• Specialization in DriveWorks (Solo/Pro) for design automation, including rule building, forms, and automated drawing and document generation.
• Hands-on experience in automating engineering processes, drawings, and documents (SolidWorks API/macros, VBA, Python or similar scripting preferred).
• Experience with, or working knowledge of, AI tools and their application to engineering work (e.g., generative AI/LLMs, AI-assisted design and documentation). Education
• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering required, Master of Engineering preferred Industry
• Renewables or Automotive or Aerospace
