About the Role
America & Beyond is looking for an experienced Senior Fashion Buyer with a solid understanding of women's fashion, garment design, market trends, commercial buying, and inventory planning. We are seeking someone who can independently identify commercially viable products, understand what works for our brand and customers, make informed buying decisions, and plan inventory and production requirements. The ideal candidate combines fashion design knowledge with hands-on professional buying experience. They should be able to evaluate styles from both a creative and commercial perspective, identify emerging trends in the US fashion market, and translate sales and inventory data into actionable buying decisions. This is a fashion buying and inventory planning position, not a production merchandising, sampling coordination, or assistant merchandising role. Candidate Requirements
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in fashion buying, retail buying, or assortment planning within an established fashion or apparel company. (Mandatory)
• Proven experience independently selecting styles, making buying decisions, planning purchase quantities, and managing replenishment.
• Degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, Fashion Buying, or a related discipline preferred.
• Strong understanding of women's garments, silhouettes, fabrics, colors, seasonal collections, and fashion trends.
• Experience researching and interpreting US fashion trends, customer preferences, and competitor assortments.
• Demonstrated experience in inventory planning, sales forecasting, sell-through analysis, and stock management.
• Ability to plan purchase orders (POs), buying quantities, and production requirements based on demand forecasts.
• Strong understanding of retail pricing, gross margins, product profitability, and inventory performance.
• Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, and sales/inventory analysis.
• Experience with Shopify, ERP systems, or retail inventory management platforms preferred.
• Strong analytical ability, commercial judgment, and the confidence to make independent buying recommendations.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with design, production, sourcing, and sales teams. Preferred: Experience working with US fashion, contemporary womenswear, resortwear, apparel, or accessories brands.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fashion Buying & Trend Forecasting
• Research emerging fashion trends in the US market, including silhouettes, fabrics, colors, prints,
and product categories.
• Identify commercially viable garments and accessories that align with America & Beyond's brand identity and target customers.
• Evaluate competitor collections, bestselling products, market demand, and retail price positioning.
• Independently recommend new styles, product categories, and buying opportunities.
• Assess designs and collections from both a fashion and commercial perspective.
• Work closely with the design team to develop assortments that reflect current trends and customer demand.
• Plan seasonal collections and product assortments based on historical performance, market trends, and upcoming selling seasons. 2. Buying Decisions & Assortment Planning
• Take ownership of product selection, assortment recommendations, and buying quantity planning.
• Determine which styles, categories, colors, and product variations should be purchased or produced.
• Develop seasonal and monthly buying plans based on sales history, demand forecasts, and inventory availability.
• Recommend buying quantities while balancing sales opportunities, inventory investment, and stock risks.
• Support buying budgets and Open-to-Buy (OTB) planning.
• Identify assortment gaps and recommend opportunities to improve category performance.
• Evaluate buying decisions based on sell-through, margins, customer demand, and overall commercial performance. 3. Inventory Planning & Replenishment
• Monitor inventory levels, sales velocity, stock cover, and sell-through across product categories.
• Identify fast-moving, slow-moving, and underperforming products.
• Independently recommend which products should be reordered, in what quantities, and at what frequency.
• Plan purchase orders and production requirements based on projected demand, current inventory, and supplier lead times.
• Forecast inventory requirements for the next 30, 60, and 90 days.
• Identify potential stockouts and initiate timely replenishment recommendations.
• Coordinate with production and sourcing teams to ensure timely availability of bestselling products.
• Plan inventory allocation across DTC, wholesale, and marketplace channels.
• Identify excess and aging inventory and recommend corrective actions. 4. Sales Analysis & Commercial Performance
• Analyze daily, weekly,
and monthly sales performance at the product, SKU, and category levels.
• Understand why specific products are performing well or underperforming.
• Evaluate product performance using sales velocity, sell-through, gross margins, inventory turnover, and profitability.
• Identify customer buying patterns and use insights to improve future buying decisions.
• Review product pricing, competitor benchmarks, and category profitability.
• Recommend markdowns, pricing adjustments, or stock clearance strategies for slow-moving inventory.
• Prepare actionable buying, inventory, and product performance reports for management.
• Track the commercial outcomes of buying decisions and refine future assortment plans. 5. Production & Cross-Functional Coordination
• Translate approved buying plans into purchase order and production requirements.
• Coordinate with design, merchandising, sourcing, and production teams to ensure timely execution.
• Monitor production timelines, lead times, and expected stock availability.
• Ensure buying and replenishment plans are aligned with seasonal launches, sales forecasts, and business priorities.
• Proactively identify delays, inventory risks, and production gaps. What We're Looking For We are looking for a fashion buyer with strong design sensibility and commercial ownership, not someone whose experience is limited to production follow-ups or merchandising coordination. The right candidate should be able to answer:
• What fashion trends and products should we invest in next?
• Which styles align with our brand and have strong commercial potential?
• Why are certain garments selling while others are not?
• Which products should we reorder, and in what quantities?
• How much inventory should we plan for the next 30, 60, and 90 days?
• When should purchase orders and production be initiated to prevent stockouts?
• How can we improve assortment profitability while reducing excess inventory? The expectation is to independently evaluate products, recommend buying decisions, and proactively plan inventory—not simply execute purchase orders assigned by others. Important Application Criteria This position requires at least 5 years of relevant corporate fashion buying or assortment planning experience. Candidates whose experience is primarily in production merchandising, sampling, factory coordination, order follow-ups, or assistant merchandising without independent buying responsibility will not meet the requirements for this role. Female candidates are encouraged to apply. All qualified applicants will be considered based on their buying experience, fashion knowledge, and commercial capabilities.
