Role
Your role is to run Indras Design & Engineering department process, mechanical and piping, electrical and instrumentation, and CAD and to sign the Engineering Release for every project within 14 days of purchase order. You co-sign the costing before a PO is accepted, you hold the released bill of quantities as the only basis for procurement, and you are accountable for the design quality of every plant Indra hands over.
What success looks like
You will be measured on a published scorecard. In outline:
- First six months the release machine is installed. Every new purchase order released complete within 14 days. A release checklist signed on every package. The engineering of every live project back-filled to a complete package within 60 days. Costing co-signed on every proposal. Mechanical, process and E&I; engineers hired and in seat.
- Twelve months designs stop causing site rework. Zero bill-of-quantity additions after release. No more than two drawing reworks per project for D&E; errors. Zero site rework attributed to design. Twenty or more releases in the year, all within 14 days, small projects within 10. A design standards library for the ElectroX range in use
Responsibilities
1. Sign the Engineering Release. Within 14 days of PO for every project, all sizes: P&ID;, equipment and civil layouts, piping isometrics, technical submittal, load list, I/O list, control philosophy and BOQ including the site spares kit. A partial issue is not a release. Nothing is bought before your signature
2. Co-sign the costing. Review every proposals cost build-up before a PO is accepted; what you sign is the baseline the project is measured against at handover. 1 2026 Inphlox Water Systems Private Limited. All rights reserved.
3. Own the BOQ.
The released BOQ is the only purchasing basis; additions after release count against Design & Engineering. Track them to zero.
4. Run the department to the clock. Set internal milestones inside the 14 days (process by day 7, mechanical and E&I; by day 12), review the release board weekly, and know on day 7 whether day 14 is at risk.
5. Lead the engineers and CAD. Two process, two mechanical, one E&I;, three CAD at full strength. Set and review each persons scorecard monthly; hire to fill the gaps in your first six months.
6. Attribute and reduce rework. Maintain the drawing revision log; agree attribution with the Project Manager on every revision; bring D&E-caused; rework to two or fewer per project.
7. Build the standards. Standard P&IDs;, module layouts and BOQ templates for the ElectroX range (51,000 KLD), so that release time falls with every repeat
What we look for (attitude first)
We hire for attitude, not just skill. Skills can be taught; attitude cannot. The right candidate demonstrates: • •
- Self-initiative has built a release checklist, a revision log or a standards library somewhere without being asked to
- A hardworking approach clears an inherited backlog personally, prioritised by site date
- A self-starting mindset signs a release and stands by it; refuses to release incomplete, in writing, when Sales or management push
- Critical and analytical thinking reads a P&ID;,
a layout and a single-line diagram well enough to send all three back with reasons; decides on evidence, not opinion And, specific to this role: hates a BOQ addition more than a late drawing
Desired candidate profile
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering
- 10- 15 years in ETP / STP / ZLD design, EPC engineering departments or skid and packaged plant OEMs
- Led engineering for 10 or more industrial plants in the 1002,000 KLD range, releasing complete packages to a deadline
- Managed a multidisciplinary team of 510 engineers and draughtsmen
- Hands-on with P&IDs;, layouts, isometrics and BOQs; able to review E&I; deliverables
- Has owned design-to-cost: a costing co-sign or a BOQ accuracy target
Competencies required
- Process design of industrial effluent treatment (equalisation, physico-chemical, biological, tertiary); electrochemical treatment is a plus
- Mechanical and piping design: pumps, valves, FRP / PP / SS piping, skid layouts, civil interfaces
- Reading and reviewing E&I; packages: load list, I/O list, SLD, control philosophy
- AutoCAD / Plant 3D or equivalent; drawing control and revision management under ISO
- Release gating, BOQ control and cost baselining at project level
Our commitment to you. Your signature on an Engineering Release is final: nobody buys around it, including the founders and the sales team. You will have the engineers to hold the 14-day clock.
