## Senior Chemist Dispersing Agents (Sodium Naphthalene Sulphonate) (Manufacturing & Process Development)

### Job Overview

Arlex Industries Pvt. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Senior Chemist specialising in the manufacturing, synthesis and process development of industrial dispersing agents.

The candidate must have strong technical knowledge of dispersing agent chemistry, raw materials, reaction mechanisms, manufacturing processes and commercial-scale production.

The role will involve establishing and optimising production processes, ensuring consistent product quality, reducing manufacturing costs and supporting the development of current dispersing agent formulations.

### Key Responsibilities

**1. Manufacturing & Production**

- Independently manage and supervise the manufacturing of dispersing agents.

- Possess practical experience in producing naphthalene sulphonate formaldehyde condensates (SNF/NSF), polymeric dispersants and other relevant industrial dispersing agents.

- Demonstrate knowledge of sulphonation, condensation, neutralisation and other relevant chemical processes.

- Establish manufacturing procedures, reaction conditions and batch production parameters.

- Ensure consistent product quality during commercial-scale manufacturing.

**2. Process Development & Optimisation**





- Develop and optimise manufacturing processes to improve product performance and production efficiency.

- Conduct laboratory trials, pilot batches and scale-up to commercial production.

- Identify opportunities to improve yields, reduce raw material consumption and minimise production costs.

- Troubleshoot production issues, including viscosity variations, product instability and inconsistent batch quality.

- Develop alternative formulations and raw material combinations where technically feasible.

**3. Product Development & Technical Expertise**

- Develop dispersing agents suitable for textile dyes, pigments, dye formulations and other industrial applications.

- Understand dispersion stability, particle-size distribution, viscosity control and dispersing efficiency.

- Evaluate product compatibility with different dye and pigment systems.

- Support the development of liquid and powder dispersing agents.

- Conduct comparative performance testing against established commercial products.

**4. Quality Control & Documentation**

- Establish product specifications and in-process quality control parameters.

- Monitor pH, viscosity, solid content, dispersing efficiency and stability.

- Prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs), batch manufacturing records and technical documentation.

- Coordinate with QC teams to ensure batch consistency.

Plant Operations & Safety**

- Support equipment selection, commissioning and process implementation.

- Coordinate with production, engineering and maintenance teams.

- Ensure adherence to chemical handling procedures, process safety standards and environmental requirements.

- Provide technical guidance and training to production personnel.

### Required Technical Expertise

Candidates should demonstrate proven manufacturing experience in one or more of the following:

- Naphthalene-based dispersing agents (SNF/NSF, NNO, MF or equivalent grades)

- Sulphonated polymeric dispersants

**Essential Requirement:** Candidates must have directly participated in the synthesis, manufacturing or commercial-scale process development of dispersing agents. Experience limited to trading, sales or laboratory application testing will not be sufficient.

### Preferred Candidate Profile

- Minimum 10 years of experience in specialty chemical manufacturing.

- Strong practical knowledge of chemical reaction processes and industrial equipment.

- Ability to independently establish and manage a manufacturing process.

- Prior experience in scaling laboratory processes into commercial production.

- Strong problem-solving and cost-optimisation capabilities.

- Experience in dye chemicals, textile auxiliaries or specialty chemical manufacturing will be preferred.

### Key Expectations

The selected candidate should be capable of independently developing, establishing, stabilising and optimising dispersing agent manufacturing operations at the company's Saykha facility.
