We are a Mauritius-based group in furniture manufacture, import and retail. We are hiring a qualified accountant in India to take ownership of the accounts of our main trading company, working fully remotely and reporting directly to the Managing Director. This is a long-term engagement on an independent contractor basis - you will invoice us monthly from India.
ODOO IS COMPULSORY. Applications without hands-on Odoo Accounting experience will not be considered.
What you will own:
- Posting all entries in Odoo daily and keeping the ledgers clean and current
- Daily bank reconciliation and allocation of every receipt and payment
- Reconciling POS and card settlements, and hire purchase receipts from finance houses
- Maintaining a complete import file for every shipment; tracking supplier payment terms and shipping cycles
- Verifying landed cost, customs duty and VAT on each Bill of Entry
- Supplier ledgers, customer ledgers and the fixed asset register
- Rent accounts including withholding tax, and the arrears tracker
- Intercompany invoicing and full intercompany reconciliation between the three companies
- Preparing and filing the monthly VAT return
- Reconciling bank loan accounts
- A six-month rolling group cash flow, and reporting budget variances to the Director
- Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet by the 7th of each month
- Maintaining the audit file and liaising with the external auditors
Preferred candidate profile:
- CA, CMA, or CA / CMA Inter (semi-qualified considered), with B.Com or M.Com
- 3 to 7 years in a full-set accounting role, closing accounts end to end
- Hands-on Odoo Accounting - this is not negotiable
- Strong Excel; comfortable with import / landed cost and multi-company accounts
- Able to work independently and to deadline, without supervision in the room
- Positive written and spoken English - you will deal directly with the Director and the external auditors
Working hours (Mauritius time, which is 1.5 hours behind IST):
- Monday to Friday: 09h00 to 17h00 Mauritius (10:30 to 18:30 IST)
- Saturday: 09h00 to 15h00 Mauritius (10:30 to 16:30 IST)
- Sunday: 09h00 to 11h00 Mauritius (10:30 to 12:30 IST)

Remuneration: Rs 45,000 to Rs 70,000 per month on an independent contractor basis, depending on qualification and depth of Odoo experience. Paid monthly against your invoice.Role & responsibilities
