Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented General Manager – Production to lead API manufacturing operations at our Ankleshwar facility. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing production planning, manufacturing operations, process optimization, quality compliance, safety, and manpower management to achieve production targets while ensuring adherence to cGMP, EHS, and regulatory requirements.

The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in API manufacturing, and the ability to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and oversee end-to-end API manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules are achieved.
2. Develop and implement production plans, capacity utilization strategies, and resource allocation to meet business requirements.
3. Ensure compliance with cGMP, SOPs, GMP documentation, regulatory requirements, and internal quality systems.
4. Drive process optimization, yield improvement, cycle-time reduction, and cost optimization initiatives.
5. Collaborate with QA, QC, Engineering, EHS, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to ensure smooth manufacturing operations.
6. Ensure effective implementation of process safety, EHS standards, risk assessments, and safe operating practices.
7. Monitor key production performance indicators, including yield, productivity, batch cycle time, deviations, and equipment utilization.
8. Lead investigations into manufacturing deviations,



process failures, and recurring operational issues, implementing effective CAPA.
9. Drive technology transfer, process validation, scale-up activities, and implementation of new products in coordination with R&D; and other stakeholders.
10. Develop and mentor production teams, strengthen technical capabilities, and ensure effective manpower planning and performance management.
11. Support regulatory inspections, customer audits, and internal audits, ensuring timely closure of observations and compliance gaps.
12. Prepare and manage departmental budgets, operational expenses, and capital expenditure requirements.

Required Skills and Competencies

- Robust experience in API manufacturing and pharmaceutical production operations.
- In-depth knowledge of cGMP, GMP documentation, regulatory compliance, and EHS requirements.
- Expertise in production planning, process optimization, yield improvement, and manufacturing cost control.
- Experience in handling deviations, CAPA, change control, and process validation.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent cross-functional coordination and team management skills.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- Proven experience in a senior production leadership role within an API manufacturing facility.
- Experience managing large-scale manufacturing operations and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong understanding of chemical processes, plant operations, and pharmaceutical manufacturing systems.
- Experience in regulatory inspections and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
- Candidates with experience in large pharmaceutical API manufacturing organizations will be preferred.
