Role & responsibilities

1. Job Purpose

To provide strategic and operational leadership for the overall iron and steel manufacturing business, ensuring operational excellence, production efficiency, quality standards, cost optimisation, safety compliance, and sustainable business growth.

2. Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Operations Management: Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the organisation's business objectives, production targets, and long-term growth plans.

2. Plant Operations: Oversee end-to-end operations of iron and steel manufacturing facilities, including raw material handling, production, processing, and finished goods dispatch.

3. Production Planning & Control: Ensure optimum utilisation of plant capacity, manpower, machinery, and resources to achieve production targets and operational efficiency.

4. Technical & Process Excellence: Drive improvements in manufacturing processes, technology upgradation, equipment performance, and production efficiency.

5. Cost Optimisation: Monitor manufacturing costs, energy consumption, raw material utilisation, and operational expenses to improve profitability.

6. Quality Management: Ensure adherence to quality standards, product specifications, process controls, and customer requirements.

7. Maintenance & Engineering: Oversee plant maintenance, preventive and predictive maintenance systems, equipment reliability, and breakdown reduction.

8. Safety & Statutory Compliance: Ensure compliance with industrial safety regulations, environmental norms, labour laws, and statutory requirements.

9. Leadership & Team Management: Lead senior functional heads,



plant heads, production teams, maintenance, quality, and other operational departments.

10. Business Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor KPIs, MIS, production reports, operational budgets, and performance dashboards.

11. Supply Chain Coordination: Coordinate with procurement, logistics, sales, and commercial teams to ensure uninterrupted production and timely delivery.

12. Continuous Improvement: Implement Lean Manufacturing, TPM, 5S, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence initiatives.

3. Educational Qualification

- B.Tech / BE in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical or Production Engineering.
- MBA / PG Diploma in Operations Management will be an added advantage.

4. Desired Candidate Profile

- 2025+ years of experience in the Iron & Steel / Steel Manufacturing industry.
- Strong exposure to integrated steel plants or secondary steel manufacturing operations.
- Experience in managing large-scale manufacturing facilities and multiple operational functions.
- Robust knowledge of steel manufacturing processes, plant operations, maintenance, and quality management.
- Proven track record of improving productivity, reducing operational costs, and driving profitability.
- Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making capabilities.
