Job Description: SAP S/4HANA Migration Subject Matter Expert

Role overview

3months Contract

We are seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Subject Matter Expert to help us identify and shape opportunities to support clients undertaking SAP migration programmes.

The initial focus will be an existing clients migration initiative. The SME will understand the overall programme, assess the client’s priorities and delivery gaps, and identify specific areas where our capabilities can add value. They will work with our business and technology teams to turn these opportunities into clearly scoped engagements.

The role will also help build a repeatable approach for future clients and opportunities.

Key responsibilities

Understand the client’s migration programme

- Understand the business objectives, migration approach, scope, roadmap, and target architecture.
- Review the SAP landscape, business processes, custom developments, integrations, and data dependencies.
- Understand the responsibilities of the client, implementation partner, and other vendors.
- Identify pain points, capability gaps, risks, and areas that need additional support.

Identify and prioritise contribution areas

- Match client needs with our capabilities in AI, data, code intelligence, testing, and engineering.
- Assess opportunities across readiness assessment, custom code analysis, business rule discovery, data mapping, documentation, testing, and reconciliation.
- Prioritise opportunities based on business value, feasibility, readiness, and fit with the wider programme.




- Define how our contribution will complement the client’s internal teams and existing delivery partners.

Shape practical engagements

- Lead discovery discussions with business, SAP, architecture, and programme stakeholders.
- Define problem statements, scope, deliverables, assumptions, exclusions, and dependencies.
- Identify the access, data, skills, and client participation required.
- Work with delivery teams to develop solution approaches, effort estimates, proposals, and statements of work.
- Define suitable pilots with measurable outcomes and clear acceptance criteria.

Provide SAP guidance and validation

- Guide internal teams on SAP processes, terminology, migration requirements, and business implications.
- Validate findings from custom code analysis, data mapping, and AI-assisted discovery.
- Ensure proposed solutions fit SAP architecture, clean-core principles, security requirements, and programme governance.
- Support client workshops, solution reviews, and delivery handovers.

Build a repeatable service offering

- Develop reusable assessment frameworks, discovery questionnaires, opportunity maps, and scope templates.
- Capture lessons from engagements and turn them into practical playbooks.
- Support future client discussions, opportunity qualification, and proposal development.




- Help define the skills and partnerships needed to deliver selected services.

Required experience and skills

- Typically 10+ years of SAP experience, including advisory or leadership roles in S/4HANA migration programmes.
- Broad understanding of the migration lifecycle, including assessment, design, code remediation, data migration, testing, and cutover.
- Deep expertise in at least one SAP functional or technical area, with strong awareness of cross-module dependencies.
- Experience working with client leadership, business teams, system integrators, and delivery partners.
- Proven ability to identify client needs and translate them into practical, scoped engagements.
- Experience in discovery, solution development, estimation, and proposal preparation.
- Strong business judgement and the ability to explain technical matters clearly.

Desirable experience

- Exposure to AI-assisted code analysis, business rule extraction, data quality, or testing.
- Experience developing consulting services or reusable delivery frameworks.
- Familiarity with SAP assessment tools, SAP BTP, Fiori, and clean-core principles.
- Relevant SAP S/4HANA certification.
