Role: Systems Software Engineer Intern – Agent Development
Employment Type: Internship
Stipend offered : Rs: 10000/- per month for 6 months
At Upconnect Labs, we’re building an observability and security platform. We’re looking for students and fresh graduates with solid programming fundamentals and hands-on coding experience to help develop lightweight Linux monitoring agents.
? Required Skills
Working knowledge of ONE of these two options:
- C & Go: Comfortable with pointers, structs, and memory allocation in C; functions, slices, maps, and error handling in Go.
Or
- Rust: Comfortable with ownership, borrowing, structs, collections, and error handling. C and Go are not required for this option.
You should also have
- A good understanding of programming fundamentals and basic data structures
- Familiarity with the Linux command line and the ability to build and run programs
- A basic understanding of processes, threads, and memory
- The ability to write small programs independently, troubleshoot errors, and explain your code
- At least one hands-on project using the relevant language(s)—academic or personal projects are welcome
?️ What You’ll Do
- Develop components for Linux-based monitoring agents
- Help collect system metrics and process information
- Write, test, and debug code with guidance from the engineering team
- Help improve agent reliability and resource usage
- Participate in code reviews and document your work
? Valuable to Have—not mandatory
- Basic networking knowledge, such as TCP/IP or HTTP
- Familiarity with Git
- Exposure to monitoring tools, Docker, or eBPF
? What You’ll Gain
- Hands-on experience in systems programming and Linux
- Experience building real-world monitoring software
- Engineering mentorship and exposure to development, testing, and debugging workflows
No prior industry experience is required, but practical programming ability is expected. You should be comfortable discussing a project you have built and explaining your contribution.
