- Processing Transactions: Scan barcodes, enter prices into the point-of-sale (POS) system, and verify item accuracy.
- Handling Payments: Accept cash, credit/debit cards, mobile wallets (like UPI or Apple Pay), gift cards, and coupons, while making exact change.
- Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, answer questions about prices or store policies, and resolve minor complaints.
- Returns and Exchanges: Verify receipts, process refunds or store credits, and follow company return policies.
- Drawer Reconciliation: Count the cash drawer (float) at the beginning and end of a shift to balance cash and match sales reports.
- Workspace Upkeep: Keep the checkout area clean, bag or box items neatly, and restock impulse-buy goods or receipt paper.
- Security & Fraud Prevention: Stay alert for counterfeit money, suspicious activity, or un-scanned items.
