Role & responsibilities

Mechanical design and development

• Translate application requirements into concepts, architecture, calculations, mechanisms and detailed designs.

• Personally design critical components and assemblies; select materials, bought-out components and manufacturing processes.

• Ensure robustness, reliability, serviceability, cost effectiveness and documentation quality. Prototype, testing and problem solving

• Drive mechanical work through vendor fabrication, assembly, trials, troubleshooting and production release.

• Diagnose mechanical performance issues, establish root causes and implement and verify design corrections. Delivery and technical leadership

• Plan mechanical deliverables, commit to realistic milestones, proactively address risks and close issues.

• Work effectively with the CTO, automation/electrical/software, application, procurement, production and suppliers.

• Guide and review other mechanical designers,



develop repeatable modules and build engineering standards as the team expands.

Preferred candidate profile

Proven experience personally designing and developing industrial machines or substantial mechanical systems from concept to working, production-ready equipment.

• Robust fundamentals in machine design, mechanics, engineering calculations, component sizing, materials, fits, tolerances and practical GD&T.;

• Hands-on 3D CAD capability (SolidWorks preferred), engineering drawings, assemblies, BOMs and design revisions.

• Practical understanding of precision mechanisms, motion systems, pneumatic actuation, machining, fabrication, assembly and manufacturability.

• Ability to investigate failures systematically, test hypotheses, identify root causes and implement reliable corrective designs.

• Experience with pumps, valves, metering, fluid handling or dispensing mechanisms is particularly valuable.
