We are building a dedicated QA function around the Python pricing engine that prices every new-

business and renewal offer we make. This system decides the terms we put in front of small businesses

in real time. When it prices correctly, we grow profitably; when it prices wrong even by a single

reference file or one edge-case input — it can misprice every deal on that path until someone notices.

Today those errors are usually caught downstream, weeks later, in analysis. Your job is to make sure they

are caught before a release ships.

We are looking for a QA Automation Engineer to own the automated testing of the pricing engine end

to end — from the engine itself out to every system it exchanges data with, including the sales platform,

the CRM, and our external credit and bank-data providers. You do not own those other systems; you

own the correctness of the processes and data flows that touch pricing. You will build and maintain an

automated test suite that exercises the full range of pricing scenarios and runs as the gate before any

major release, so that a change cannot reach production without proving it still prices correctly.

This is a build role,

not a click-through-a-checklist role. The pricing engine's characteristic failure is

valid-looking output with wrong values and no error raised. Catching that takes real engineering: test

data that covers the scenario space, assertions on the actual offer math, and harnesses that flag when a

change moves a price it should not have. We want someone who thinks like an engineer and an

adversary at once — who enjoys finding the input that breaks the system before a merchant does.

We are an AI-forward company, and we expect our QA engineers to work that way — using modern AI

and LLM tooling to generate test cases, scaffold suites, and move faster, not doing everything by hand.

We want to work with high-performing people who will play an integral part in transforming the

company. We understand one thing: it all comes down to working with creative and committed people

and enabling them to do what they do best.

Responsibilities:

Build and own an automated test suite that covers the pricing engine's scenarios end to end —

every scoring segment, offer grid, modifier, and pricing path for both new business and renewals —

and make it the required gate that runs before any major release.

Write regression tests that pin the current, correct pricing behavior, so that any change which

unintentionally moves an offer's amount, rate, term, or fee is caught automatically rather than

discovered later in analysis.

Design and generate test inputs that go beyond normal ranges — boundary values, out-of-range

and malformed inputs, missing fields, extreme revenue or credit values, unusual industry and

segment combinations — and confirm the engine handles them safely rather than silently producing

a bad offer.

Test the integrity of every data flow that touches pricing: the opportunity and credit data coming in

from the sales platform and credit/bank providers, the offer and audit records going out to the CRM

and storage, and the field mappings and formats on both sides. Catch schema and field-name drift

between systems before it corrupts pricing or the data we later measure.

Build assertions on the pricing math itself, not just on whether the system returned a response —

verifying that term, rate, fee, and payback are internally consistent and match what the specification

says the offer should be.

Own reconciliation-style checks that confirm every input actually got priced, that outputs are

complete and correctly typed in storage, and that reference-file changes (rate tables, scorecards,

modifiers) produce exactly the price change intended and nothing more.

Partner with the pricing engineers on release process — defining what must pass before a change

ships, building the checks into CI, and setting the standard for test coverage on new features and

pricing rules.

Maintain test environments and representative test data across the local dev QA staging

production path, and keep the suite fast and trustworthy enough that the team actually relies on it.

Investigate production pricing incidents, reproduce them in a test, and add a regression case so the

same failure cannot recur.

Use modern AI and LLM tooling to generate test cases and scaffold coverage faster.

Requirements

Qualifications:

3+ years in QA automation, SDET, or a software engineering role with a heavy testing focus.

Strong Python, with real experience writing automated tests (pytest or similar) for applications and

services, not just UI click-scripts.

Experience testing APIs and backend services — building test data, asserting on responses, and

validating behavior across service boundaries.

Comfort with SQL and with validating data in databases and structured files (CSV, Parquet); able to

check that what a system stored matches what it should have stored.

A genuine instinct for edge cases and adversarial inputs — you reach for the boundary value, the

malformed record, and the unexpected combination, not just the happy path.

Care for correctness in business-logic-heavy systems: able to read a specification or rule and build

tests that prove the output is exactly right, especially where a wrong result looks valid and raises no

error.

Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD so they run as a gate before release.

Strong communication — able to describe a failure clearly, work with engineers on the fix, and set

expectations on test coverage.

Self-directed and rigorous; comfortable owning test strategy for a system end to end.

Comfort using modern AI and LLM tools to make your own work more efficient.

Nice to have:

Background in financial services, lending, pricing, or another domain where a wrong number has real

financial consequences.

Experience testing systems with complex configuration or rules-driven behavior (rate tables, decision

rules, scorecards).

Hands-on AWS familiarity (ECS/Fargate, DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, SQS, CloudWatch).

Experience testing or validating machine-learning model outputs, or data/experiment (A/B)

pipelines.

Experience with CRM or platform APIs such as Salesforce or HubSpot.

Data validation frameworks such as Pydantic or Great Expectations.

Docker and containerized test environments.

Load, performance, or contract testing experience.
