Role Description This is a full time, on-site role based in Bengaluru for an IEC 61850 Communication Protocol Testing professional. The role involves designing and executing test plans for IEC 61850-based communication systems, including verification of data models, services, and interoperability between IEDs and related substation automation components. The individual will perform functional, integration, and regression testing, analyze protocol traces, and document defects with clear root-cause insights and recommended corrective actions.



Daily responsibilities include collaborating with automation engineers and software developers, preparing test documentation and reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and customer specifications. The role also requires maintaining test environments, supporting commissioning activities when needed, and contributing to continuous improvement of testing frameworks and methodologies. Qualifications
• Candidates should possess strong Communication skills, including clear technical communication with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Candidates should possess Writing skills for preparing test plans, test cases, defect logs, and technical documentation.
• Candidates should possess Press Releases and Strategic Communications experience when supporting project or product communication and customer updates.
• Candidates should possess Internal Communications capabilities to coordinate effectively within project teams and across departments.
• Solid understanding of IEC 61850 standard, substation automation systems, and SCADA/DCS environments.
• Hands-on experience with protocol testing tools, network analyzers, and IED configuration/verification will be beneficial.
• Familiarity with other power system communication protocols (such as Modbus, DNP3, or IEC 60870-5) is an advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
