About the Role
We are looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) who is equally comfortable in a customer meeting and in a code editor. You will sit with customers, understand their business problem, pitch the right Google Cloud solution, and then build a working proof of concept (POC), often within days, to prove it. What will you do Meet and understand customers
• Join discovery calls and workshops with customers, from startups to enterprises, to understand their business goals, data, pain points and constraints.
• Translate vague business problems into a clear technical problem statement and success criteria.
• Ask the right questions about budget, timelines, stakeholders and risks, not only about technology. Pitch Google Cloud solutions
• Recommend and explain the right Google Cloud services for the use case, for example BigQuery, Vertex AI, Gemini, Cloud Run, GKE, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Looker, Cloud Storage, AlloyDB and Google Workspace.
• Present solution architectures, demos and business-case summaries to technical and non-technical audiences, including founders and CXOs.
• Explain trade-offs honestly,



including cost, security, scalability and build-versus-buy. Build POCs fast
• Design and build working POCs and demos, typically in [1 to 2 weeks], using Python, SQL and Google Cloud services.
• Work with data pipelines, APIs, dashboards and generative AI or ML applications (such as RAG, agents, document AI and analytics copilots).
• Keep POCs clean enough to be extended into production, and document the architecture, assumptions and next steps.
• Use AI coding tools to move faster, while reviewing and owning what you ship. Preferred Qualifications
• 2-3 years of experience in software, data or cloud engineering, solutions engineering, consulting or a similar customer-facing technical role.
• Strong hands-on skills in Python and SQL, and the ability to build an end-to-end working prototype yourself.
• Working knowledge of Google Cloud (or another major cloud such as AWS or Azure, with a willingness to ramp up on GCP quickly), including data and AI services.
• Practical experience with data engineering, analytics or AI/ML, including generative AI, LLM APIs and RAG.
• Excellent communication. You can explain a complex idea simply, run a demo smoothly and handle tough questions calmly.
• Startup and Business Understanding: you know how a startup or small business makes money, what a founder cares about (growth, cost, speed, risk), and how a technical solution links to revenue, savings or efficiency.
• A bias for action: comfortable with ambiguity, short timelines and shifting priorities.
• Willingness to travel to customer locations when needed. Significant Details
